Downtown Grand $1000 rebate

I haven't yet returned for my 2nd redemption but I received this mailer today. It is very informative and shows the exact amount for my 2nd and 3rd redemptions and the expiration dates. It also includes 2 free nights which I may take advantage of as well.

I want to make sure that the group here is aware that there is some more information on this subject in a thread that's in the LVA FFA Message Board.

I've posted this on the FFA board but I think it is important enough to post here as well, you can no longer play video poker with your rebate free play. I was there this past weekend and I was surprised by this new change in the rules. Also be aware, if you get a room offer from the DG you must book a room with that offer to get your rebate. Here is how it reads from their rules handout:

"Participants must redeem their 1st rebate to receive their 2nd and 3rd rebate amounts."
"Based off Participants Historical play they may receive a Room Offer."
"Participants with a room offer MUST book under that offer to receive Rebate amount."

If the room is comped (along with the resort fee), it's no big deal, as long as you are aware of it.

It just seems like a lot of rules and restrictions with the possible intention, of depriving you, of a portion of your rebate.

This may still be a good deal but the loss of VP for rebate play, in my opinion, drops this out of the LVA Top Ten List.
I checked this weekend and video poker was not restricted on the rebate play-through. Who told you otherwise?

Anthony is correct. I used my 2nd redemption of $163 on a variety of video poker, slots, and keno machines. I also used my 2 free comp nights Aug 23 thru Aug 25. No resort fee was added as well (which would have amounted to $18 a night extra per night). The only bummer was that I didn't win anything but I'm not complaining for this promotion is awesome. F.Y.I., the 2nd redemption is automatically ready when you are and it will be in your account automatically. Don't make the mistake that I did which was to go to the slot booth first to inquire about my 2nd redemption. The booth person called a supervisor to try to figure out what was going on in the computer in my account. After about 10 minutes of them not knowing what was going on with my information in the computer I suggested that I would just go to any machine and see if my 2nd redemption was already on my account and it was already there. It requires that you play $1 first then the green money icon on the LED screen lights up green indicating you have the money available. It worked just fine on video poker. I'm looking forward to my 3rd redemption beginning in October. BTW the remodeled rooms are nice. In the room the resort fee includes 2 bottled waters and 2 earplugs due to the noise from Fremont St. However my room didn't experience any noise. It also includes free Wi-Fi. They have an "infinity" roof top pool which is small but the water felt really nice in the 106 degree heat.
We were told by casino employees, and there were stickers on all of the VP machines stating they were not eligible for free play.
Anthony,

I reached out to The Grand to find out what the deal was and got this e-mail response:

Hi Patrick,

My name is Don Joshua and I am the Director of Slot Operations here at the Downtown Grand, I am sorry about the confusion regarding the rebate when your friend was here. When your friend comes to claim the second portion of the rebate they can use it on video poker machines if that is their choice. The stickers on the machines pertain to the fact that video poker machine play isn’t factored into the rebate program in regards to evaluating play during first 24 hours when factoring the loss amount. I hope this clears up the confusion, if your friend has any more questions they can look me up when they are here visiting.

Sincerely,

Don Joshua

My contention that VP was not allowed for Free Play was based on both employee info (which was obviously wrong) and the stickers on the machines (which are misleading). My apology to anyone who changed plans based on my assertion that the deal had changed.

Late post, sorry but better late than never I suppose. For my 3rd and final redemption I got lucky and got these wins which recouped my original loss of $660 and then some.

I came across these pictures that I saved from Oct 2015 when the Downtown Grand sent me these offers. This must have been the hay-day of the Downtown Grand's nice offers. Although they didn't honor the free rooms at some point, they did honor the free play and dining credits which didn't require a hotel stay.

Dining credit applied...........
