Is it safe for a 58 year old woman to walk alone from the Fremont to the Downtown Grand and to El Cortez on an early Monday afternoon? I won't be carrying a purse.
Yes, I think so. But if you're concerned about going between Downtown Grand and El Cortez, you could always walk back to Fremont Street and then continue going East from there.
Absolutely safe. Even in the evening. Years ago when I was wondering about the same thing I read a posting on Trip Advisor where some one posted that the area is populated by scavengers not predators.
The two streets in question are: Fremont St and Ogden. Fremont St is always safe...24/7. There's lots of cops and lots of people. It would take alot of balls and stupidity for someone to try and attack you in that context of people. Ogden can be desolate at night - which isn't to say its unsafe but it certainly provides a better opportunity for the bad guys. I've walked down Ogden 100 times after dark but if you wanted to be extra careful I'd say stick to Fremont St.
THANKS so much for your replies everyone!! I'm planning to use as many coupons from my LVA book and from the Am Casino Guide as I can. I would pass on El Cortez and the Downtown Grand if I was afraid to walk there, but now I'm OK with it -- thanks to all of you! I will stick to Fremont!
