Champster please report in what your findings are at DTG when you have a chance. I contacted a host there and got 3 nights comped up front w/ $80 fsp and $25 dining credit. Would like to give them more play if they really are FP on DDB.

Thanks for any info you have to share. I'll be there in the middle of next month.

Will do Tee!!!

T- 2 days 21 hours and 29 mins till......................................VEGAS!!!
I noticed that the RoyalFlusher site mentioned that the Grand has "8/6 Boner Deluxe"....

anything else I say could just get me in trouble.
VegasChatter published a piece about Downtown Grand's updated VP inventory a couple weeks ago.
I think the management shake up can only be positive. We've stopped there at least 3 times. IT'S DEAD!!! Couldn't get our players card taken to get rated for blackjack. We were there for 45 minutes and no one could come by. I guess we should have spoken up but we really wanted to watch and wait to see what would happen. Drink service? Missing in action. SINCE the new management.... we've gotten some pretty solid mail offers on a timely basis, and will give them another visit on our next trip. From all reports, sounds like some positive changes.

About a week ago, I got a mailer for the first time, offering free nights. I called the host who was named on the mailer. She called back. I'll probably be going in the winter. And their VP is not full-pay, from what I hear. It's stuff like 8/5 bonus and 9/6 DDB. But those schedules are good enough for me, and, I suspect, most people. I'd rather play 9/6 DDB than 9/6 Jacks, even though I'm giving up about 0.5%. If I lived in Vegas or played a lot more often, I'd probably have different ideas. The DG's previous skeds were totally unplayable.
I stayed at DG this past Sunday and Monday. While the dining and drinking have taken big hits (Chinese restaurant closed, deli closed, Mob Bar rarely open), the casino tends to have a lot more people in it now. I was in there Saturday night for the Tesla giveaway (definitely not a typical event for DG) and it was PACKED! Some 70-ish guy with a grey ponytail won and took $40k instead.

I played a bunch of 9/6 DB at the bar which I think used to be 8/5. Not great, but improved. The dealers are all quite experienced and the slot selection is fantastic, they have really bright new machines in there. Oh, and the free pool party was quite busy on Sunday afternoon, with three blackjack tables and a DJ and lots of (likely paid) eye candy soaking in the rays.

As a player, I like the trend there, hope it's profitable, DG needs to get going.

The DTG was alright. Signed up for players card and tried some vp. Sharp looking up rights but you sat at a desktop to play them (like a computer screen on your desk!). The dealers at the craps table left a little to be desired. White collared shirts that were un-buttoned at the top and somewhat grimy ( at least the dealer next to me) around the collar! :<;

Looks like they packed a lot into a little space. the casino floor definitely has a different feeling than any other downtown casino (except maybe the "D").

I would return on my next visit if for no other reason to try out the food options (and to see what the rooms look like if I get an offer).
Just spent a couple nights there with my free room offer. Yes, you can tell casino traffic has upticked significantly....people actually sit at the bar now. Easily the most people i've seen in my three visits since its opening. A couple in the diner pAid for breakfast for everyone which wAs nice too.
We will be staying at the Downtown Grand in December; two of the four nights we will be in Vegas. I have always enjoyed playing VP at the bar and now excited that I might have a better chance of winning. Has anyone tried the food/drinks at Hogs and Heifers next door? Where is your favorite place to eat at or near DTG?

I popped into Hogs for a drink ...it was ok...just a little phony. It wants to be a biker bar...but its really a Disney interpretation of a Biker bar. It just tries to hard. Honestly, most of the DTG restaurants come up short with the possible exception of Pizza Rock....which has good pizza but a little overpriced. I think there is better pizza in the city for cheaper. The Stewart and Ogden diner is completely unworthwhile. Ive tried it twice and been unimpressed both times.

Theres plenty of good eateries downtown - unfortunately DTG only has one of them.
