Downtown Grand offers

If VegasChatter is to be believed, Downtown Grand's struggles are starting to affect the product.

Hard times at Downtown Grand

* Multi-department layoffs
* Spread Deli closed
* Red Mansion open only for private events
* High-limit bacarat closed
* Reduced hours for Mob Bar, Ninth Island, and Commissary
* Resort fee bumped from $11 to $18

The story includes lots of photos from midday on Monday depicting no people in or around the property. I've been getting a lot of mailers from them the past few weeks, each more desperate for my arrival than the last.

I like the place, wish more did.
Just stayed a week at the downtown grand, two adjoining rooms. the picnic pool area was awesome. we played the progressive video poker when the bonus acres were over $800 and the royal passed 1400. after comps for our play and the comps on arrival, we paid for 2 nights foe each room. 39 bucks per. when they comped for play they comped the most expensive nights, including the 4th of July. The resort fee is 11.00 not 18. red mansion was always open as was the coffee shop. mob bar had limited hours,but not the Commissary. the casino was busy while we were here. service was excellent and if I had any minor issues they were addressed at once. my casino host met with me day of departure, and when I mentioned some things I thought would improve the place(like making breakfast available 24/7) they actually called me the next day during a department meeting on speaker to discuss my issues and fixing them.
the instant slot tourney is a neat distraction as it is built into your machine as you play. the free play offer is legit, give them your email for 3-1000 in free play. I got 3 bucks but my wife got 165. we hit 2 progressive 4 of a kinds.
I really like the place and hope it does well. the dealers were very friendly, as was the pit staff. we received half a dozen match plays on check in as well. my 2 cents good luck
I received two mailers. called for a casino host, got marnelli. she not only let us use both offers, but booked us adjacent rooms so we could bring friends we travel with. we did not need the mailers, and they had our food and matchplay coupons in the folder when we checked in. free play was added as soon as we went to the players club. I also called about the pool and getting a cabana. I was transferred to the valet in error. She took the time to put me on hold and go get the info I wanted so I would not be transferred around. so they have some good employees there.
It could have helped if I used a host, and a new-er casino with "player development" in mind is where a low- mid roller should be helped most. My deal, insread is just 100 freeplay 2 nights and some chow. I was holding an earlier off for less freeplay, conceivably weekends, but the disclaimer "48 hours between" puts me in sams, free with chow gambling my own money ( gasp) before the DG. If vp dua has it right I'll tolerate their short pay for a while before moving on to 4q freeplay. OMG such a price at rental car..93 all in thru Tuesday. First world problem: do I jam a CET diamond free stay in there to improve on ST/DG? Your input sought. Good luck!
