Downtown Grand or Four Queens?

Have reservations for 3 nights at the end of the month for Downtown Grand, Gallery Tower.  Two of the nights are free.  Concerned whether the property, especially the rooms, is being kept up.  As a backup, we have reservations at Four Queens, North Tower.  None of the nights are free.  Opinions?  Stick with the Grand or run to 4Q?

I expect that the Grand will be functional. They might be understaffed. But if $$$ aren't a concern, the 4Q North Tower was just remodeled, and the rooms are, according to reports, very nice.

I'd go with Four Queens.

I stayed in the Gallery tower in late August. The room was clean and comfortable. Was also a decent size. I would stay there again.

I have never stayed at 4 queens.

Just got back from an overnight in the Gallery tower.  Excellent room.  Clean and comfortable.  As a bonus, we were in a north-facing room and heard almost no noise from Fremont.  I'm a big fan of the 4 Queens, but I'd go with the free room at the Grand.

I've stayed at the Downtown Grand in the Gallery tower heres the pros /cons.

Pros:

Newly renovated.

Quiet.

Pool access.

1 block away from Fremont St.

Just a few steps away from Pizza Rock & Triple George Grill.

Restaurant inside of the DTG is excellent.

Quiet gaming floor

$3.00 all beef hotdogs and PBR's.

$1.00 Blackjack

Stones throw away from the new food court at the Fremont.

Cons:

Gaming floor is small & the machines are tight.

Lack of gaming machines & tables.

Walking back to the GTG from Fremont late at noght can get uncomfortable.

The Four Queens have just finished up their $24 million North Tower renos.  If someone could chime in with that experience please.

I stayed in the newly remodeled north tower my last visit and found the room spacious, surprisingly quiet and also found the bathroom renovation a great upgrade. The shower is one of the best I have ever used. If you decide to stay there, you will not be disappointed.

Both places suffer from noise from Fremont st which is my biggest gripe with them.

If I had to choose between 4Q and DTGrand ... I would choose EL Cortez  =)

El Cortez can be pricey without comps.  Also extremely loud as there are nightclubs on 3 sides so you need to request room location wisely.  That said, I'd stay at the location you are trying to accrue comps at.

DTG is nice. They are having issues. But is obviously less noisy than 4Q and far newer. The casino is small but cosy. I have never stayed because their promotions have too many blackout dates and most of the time do not even work. They try hard. I get emails every couple of days.

4 Queens is cool and old school and has an excellent Fremont location. The noise is bad however.

If I stay downtown it is always Plaza. Best downtown joint. Especially with 0 instead of 00 roulette.
