Downtown Grand weasel bullshit

I'm sure they've joined the chorus, saying that their location, a two+minute walk from Fremont Street, is the problem. That's lame. They got plenty of people in there when they were providing reasons for people to visit-:just like Lady Luck before them. The El Cortez, in a similar location (a few minutes' walk away from the FSE), had a similar approach--until Stations strangled it.

Not only that: The 2 minutes walk would be one thing, but 2 minutes walk and walk by mysterious and strange lookng subjects is the major issue that I see. I don't feel comfortable when walking the side roads. The other day I saw one of those individuals changing their t-shirt and outlook. Obviously the plan was to give security or surveillance guys at the Fremont Street casinos the idea this person is just another tourist. They smartened up, make it look like their tourists, while in reality they're accessing the casinos to check for lost tickets or other items and use the bath room facilities for free.

True. They fucked it up in an extremely Stationesque way, though. They gradually tightened the screws on everything.

agree with Kevin: I remember when the coin-section of the casino had very good games, starting at quarter denom. 4-6-9 ddb was the standard, and they had that progressive bank , ok , 5-8 only, but not bad because it usually had bigger jackpots. The downtown deuces were attractive to play, then they had also other kinds of old videopoker games with decent to good paytables. First move was to give way less points for vp players although everyone knows that vp is a good business for the casino because without royal or big hits the game itself is not a good game for long session players.  Then they eliminated the machines with the better paytables and implemented more video reel slots.  Again, more removal of the game king generation vp games and more of the loud and big screen machines that are heating up the casino floor like crazy and make too much noise.  In the breeze way when I was there last time most of the good games were also removed and anyways, it's years now that they gave multiplier days for videopoker machines.  The coffee shop is really overcharged compared to other places and sometimes service lacks big time. I don't see the point why they also charge a whopping resort fee if there in fact is no resort. Not even a swimming pool if you like to catch some sun.  The main casino floor is full of those new slots. The best game that can be found at the E-C is probably black jack but they are paranoid and suspect every serious looking player being a card shark (counter).  Last thing to mention is the parking rule. I agree that they had to do something because of the countless party animals parking at the E-C and just walking through the casino to the other end where the clubs are located on Fremont East. These guys should not be allowed to park there for free. But a regular playing guest should not get problems parking his vehicle in the main garage. But it's a problem now and when I was there last time. Sad to see what happened to the El Cortez. Such a legendary casino with big history should know better than going for maximum profit and squeezing all visitors as if we're the golden goose.

I forgot: I like the people working at the club booth. Some of them have been there for years. I really like them because they are friendly and genuinly friendly. Also Mr John Dorweiler who I have known for years, a very nice guy, friendly and helpful whenever I need a room. IT's just like that I have a tolerance level too. Friendliness is one thing but once gaming becomes so mediocre and the noise level from the clubs is affecting my sleep ability in the hotel rooms when the walls are vibrant due to the extreme noise , then it's probably time to walk and look for alternatives. Even Mr Dorweiler will have to agree with me on that one.
