Downtown Is Dying

Well first off I'm a big supporter of Downtown and the things that they have done...we visit Las vegas 6 times a year always stay at the Golden Nugget and enjoy it.....the main thing I have against Downtown as of late is the Zip line way out of place.......major improvements at the Golden Nugget, Plaza, El Cortex, D and others planned hard to think Downtown is dying......the statement should have read without the Fremont Experience and all of the other things they have done Downtowm would have been dead many years ago......early years we were a Strip people but now Downtowm fits all of our needs......IMOO
I can't say that I love the Zip Line either (I have no desire to go on it), but I can see where it would bring more people in.

I see that it's even shown on one of the new Vegas Dot Com (?) commercials (with Mr. Vegas Dot Com riding on it).

And probably the https://www.vegasexperience.com website is helping somewhat too especially with the video that immediately shows up with people touting the great atmosphere and better gaming results that they are getting.

That's horrible. The average blackjack table takes in over 15 percent because most players are too dumb/lazy to learn basic strategy. Yet the casinos now feel the need to do crap like this. And it's those same players who won't notice or won't care and keep on playing bad games.

I found out the other day (see what I added into my previous post) that the changes that Las Vegas Club made to their "World's Most Liberal Blackjack" has raised up the casino advantage to 1.26% as opposed to the former 0.12%! That's 10 Times worse!

So whereas for every $100 played through (hand after hand), with the earlier rules if the casino was getting anything from the Player, it was 12 Cents, with the changes, that morphed into $1.26 per $100 played through.

El Cortez - Jackie doesn't own it anymore but he still lives there. A low cost classic gambling joint. About the same as pre FSE IMO.

I've been thinking about this one and I think that El Cortez has gotten better in terms of improving its Air Filtration System (it is less smokey now than it was before) and I think that the promotions that they offer are better than they previously were (before the FSE).

And this reminds me of an incident on my most recent visit. I met a guy and his wife at Las Vegas Club Casino and I encouraged him that if he wanted to play Blackjack that he go there and play the Single Deck game. But when I arrived there, I found him playing a variant called something like "Double Attack Blackjack" which had some funky rules which left the casino with an advantage of what I found out later was about 1%. I knew that whatever these rules were that they were not good and so I said to him "Why play this when there is better stuff here -- specifically the Single-Deck stuff? You won't find me playing this!" And he said "I'm having fun with this" even though he was losing!

So in the end, even though he had said that he cared about the rules and return of Blackjack, he didn't care enough.
