Downtown Lounge

Was watching the 2013 movie Last Vegas (Douglas, Freeman, DeNiro and Kline) and Mary Steenburgens was a lounge singer at Binions. The lounge was not real, but looked like fun old school Vegas.

Are there any free music lounges worth checking out? Years ago when Silver Sevens was Terribles, the bar had a stage and they had nightly live music, it was a lot of fun. I know Plaza still does stuff on the weekends and Tuscany is always promoting weekend lounge shows. What else is worth a trip?

I believe that ELCO still has a lounge with a lounge act. last year it was a guy singing Sinatra and other songs. that stuff changes frequently though. years ago, my favorite spots for lounge acts was at the Plaza and the Barbary Coast. oh how I miss the BC.

Agreed, Plaza had a good one, then they built the whole bar surrounding the stage with featured acts. Guess that never took off, but they are back to the stage by the main bar beside the Craps table. Im ok with that.
I recall the Golden Nugget offering live weekend entertainment in the lounge (main floor.) Also, they occasionally had live music upstairs at the "fancy lounge". Another downtown venue that has live entertainment is right at the corner (across from the old Neonopolis) building. There was the lounge upstairs which had the big neon beer glass on the outside of the building. On the bottom floor, there was a different lounge which also had live music on the weekends.

Yes - Good call! I remember a bar by the big "Bass Beer" glass had loaded Coronas for $3 (Corona with a shot of tequila).
They had a band on the patio trying to cover Jimmy Buffet. It was not good, but after about $12 worth of drinks, they were awesome!

The ElCo has nightly entertainment in their lounge. Whether its worthwhile depends on the act and your taste in music. Normally its Rat-Pack or Country Western bands.

The Plaza's "lounge" is really just a space in the casino - its not in its own room. They had a nice group playing 80's rock on my November visit.

Otherwise your best bets downtown are the non-casino venues. Pop in to the little bars on Fremont East and look for live music.
