DT Trip Report Sept 12 -16th

Here is my last minute trip to visit the Super Zoo( Pet Expo for Work)

We stay all 4 nights in the Cabana suites ( jr Suite) @ the El Cortez. There was a decent deal on... $60 per night and they give you $35 in free play and $25 in slot credit. How can you lose with this one? We made $130 on the free play, paid for all our other meals and the gas for the rental car. Ate 4 Meals @ El Cortez, with the help of some Flame Coupons. Over all one of the most inexpensive trips I've taken. I came out ahead on the gambling end - not the trip to the Mall!

Cabana Suites- Never stayed in one before, thought the gym and bar fridge would be useful ...never used either, we were way too busy.

Cons- The bright green walls in the room were awful...who decorated this thing? The room had white shutters alittle light made it's way in ( I like Pitch black). Pillows sucked! I'd bring my own if I were you! Air conditioner was broken I'm sure didn't come on very often even when we screwed around with it. The vanity in the bathroom didn't go to the wall and some of my make-up rolled off the small counter top and fell into the crack. There I was with the luggage stand trying to pull in out short arms. There was a large mirror in the room although no plug close enough to be useful.

Pros- security was always out ...they watch the sidewalk from the main hotel which was nice. Quiet...I slept well and didn't hear much, shower was great, didn't miss the tub at all! Liked the fridge idea but never used it. Everything seems somewhat new-ish compared to the reg Hotel. Room was a decent size. I'd probably stay again on a 241 or comp but wouldn't pay full price.....also would pack my own pillow

Flame- ate twice with the comp and a coupon combined. Had the Shrimp Scampi both times!- Holy these shrimp are HUGE! I could only eat 4 of them. Prime rib was decent says the BF, liked the caeser salad, Garbage salad and iceburg wedge just ok. The usual Flame.

El Cortez Cafe- Had Breakfast there, 2 eggs breakie ( like the hashbrowns w/ onions and peppers mixed in too) they have a late night special for $4.75/ 5.95 reg. Had some food credits left and ordered the chinese food one night of the menu - it was BRUTAL! If I had to pay I would have complained....

The new bar at the Cortez was Beautiful ( right beside Flame) I played up at the bar, quiet relaxing if you just wanna hang out . The other bar by the Keno Lounge.... I sit there for action. Always a good show..... Seen a cockroach by the beer taps (lovely) some old guy told me he won 80K and stayed in the Lady Luck for 65days till he blew the lot.( interesting lol) and some whack job told me he was gonna kill me and said I'm talking to you! Till security came and removed him. As he was leaving he told me he was a rainbow in the night. LOL...

BEST of all seen a lady drying her crotch with the paper towel in the bathroom , her pants where pulled down to her knees! Really??? WFT?

Fitz cafe- The Rueben Sandwich! OMG this one is a monster, share it! One of my Fav's!

4 queens was busy- stoped in for our free $10 slot play -walked out with $55 not bad. I like the slots there too ( the top dollar machine is hard to find) I'll play there in October , heard the comp's are quite good.

Plaza is quite nice now inside, new slots, eats, bars, tables- The Sport Book has 30 giant chairs to sit in! They still have the old carpet in the sport book area. Looking forward to spending a few night there in October on the next trip.

Laser Light show has NEW songs...woo hoooo... man I was getting so tired of the old ones!

Hope that helps...Good Luck on your next trip!

Thanks, L, for that report!

I also do not care for rooms with Shutters since I also like it to be as dark as possible when I sleep. That's one of the reasons why I had to give up (long ago) on staying at Fremont Hotel.

I do like El Cortez (for some good play) and Four Queens, as well as Las Vegas Club and Plaza.

I've seen some new video on Plaza (on YouTube) and it does look good!

Thanks for the report. Glad to know the new ElCo lounge is still a quiet relaxing place to play. I've never stayed there but love to play there. Hope your October trip is profitable and just as much fun! I look forward to another TR from you.
