El Cortez

My opinion " I could be wrong" I'm not. The best happy hour in Vegas. 7 days a week 5PM to 7PM. Buy a martini from the fancy martini menu at all bars. $8, Grey Goose Patron etc. Get one free. Cosmos, lemon drops, apple.......... We try to be there every day we're in Vegas.
Other than mailed room offers that come with food, and offers from points I have never received a comp from El Cortez. Do you get them from a host or the players' club? What kind of coin-in are they looking for?
My wife and I love the EC. Just made reservations today to stay there the first week of April. This will be our eighth trip to Vegas and our first repeat stay at a hotel (we stayed at the EC last November). The dealers are friendly, the limits are low, the cocktail service is good, and it's convenient to the rest of downtown.

I have never felt uncomfortable walking down Fremont toward the FSE, even late at night. There's always plenty of people out. No one is going to attack you when there are lots of other bystanders in the area.

Walking down Ogden toward the Gold Spike, however, is a different story. Late nights are definitely a little creepy.

IMHO, however, the scariest part of downtown is the stretch beside Neonopolis between Fremont and Ogden. There are plenty of areas on that block-long stretch when you are completely out of sight and anyone could jump out at you. If I didn't love the (marginally) sexy-dealer blackjack at the GS, I would never go down that street, even in broad daylight.
cmcinca- I just got my next quarters offerings from the El There was a paragraph that said for $2000 CI you would get that night free, on weekends it takes 3K CI. hope this helps.

Its a must for anyone going to Vegas.. Old School Vegas at its best!! The clientele can be a little rough/blue collar at times and it can attract the old drunks (not douchy 23 year olds), but we ALWAYS have fun.

We make it a point to stop by and play .25 cent roulette on every trip A $20 buy in will give you a tower of chips, makes you feel like a high roller.

Have Fun!!

I gave the blackjack tables between $3K - #4K of gameplay last trip. Most of that with green chips and wasn't offered anything. Still like the single deck game with 3-2 payout on naturals.

I've only stayed at the Cabana Suites and have loved it everytime.

I thought the Cabana Suites were ok. Never stayed in any other rooms there. Small but adequate. There was always a security guard by the Cabana Suites building at the crosswalk to the hotel or at the Cabana desk that looks out towards the crosswalk. It is a fun place and the Parlour Bar is nice and has that great happy hour.

One night I was up at 5:30 -6:00 AM and took a walk towards the Plaza. Some weirdos here and there but really did not feel threatened. Like someone said just don't be stupid.

I've stayed in the Tower several times and have always been satisfied with them. Admittedly, I don't need much in a hotel room - a decent bed to sleep in and, regrettably, a decent work space, since I usually work half a day or so every day when I'm in Vegas.

I'm staying at the Cabana Suites next month, just to change it up.
