El Cortez / Casino Royale

both places clean but El Cortez Cabana Suites beat out, loved our suite, it was quiet, slept well and convenient enough from the action on Freemont without hearing anything to keep us awake, Casino Royale was clean, smaller but convenient location but definitely noisy at night, not the strip but the parking lot, we were woke up both nights by vehicles coming in, sounds like delivery trucks and maintenance people. We knew the place was noisy but figured we could turn on the fan but not happening! It did not work well, we got too hot, but all in all, liked the place, secure and the casino was small and easier to get around without getting lost, good little food court, hotdogs were good, my fav was the Cinnabon, great coffee in the morning. I would recommend both places as very reasonable and kept our trip under 400 including flights for the 4 days we were there!
Thanks for the post. I have not stayed at either hotel, but will definitely not hesitate if the opportunity presents itself.

I've read that about CR. I'm thinking of trying ElCo on my next trip, but I think I'll stay in the tower. I've seen the Cabana Suites online and I think the decor would keep me awake even with the lights out!

Good Luck!

i had a cabana room one time, but i wasnt staying there. i got to see it and i do think id like to actually stay in one.

if i get one on my next trip, i will.

they are quite bright but I have always called green my favorite color, you kinda need the bright green as they use the low energy bulbs and kinda dark, but not bad at all, hope some try it cause it really is a great spot!
We stayed at the Tez in the Cabana's and found the room to be nice but alot of street noise. We were on the 3rd floor right above the entrance. You could hear the security guy that stands at the front door talking and all the street traffic. AC unit was too close to the bed and could not get good "air flow" so it kept shutting off, so room was very warm. I perfer the tower rooms over the cabana's.
For what it's worth,I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the rooms were at Casino Royal.I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
After about 8 years of frequenting the El Cortez, I have finally booked a room there with the MRO deal, buy one night get one free. I was able to book Sunday, May 29th for $45 and got the holiday, May 30th (Memorial Day) free, no problem. While the deal was originally for the Cabana Suites, I had to get a Tower room because we have three in our party and needed two Queen beds. BTW, I am staying that weekend because there is a three day outdoor punk rock festival on the property that Sat, Sun and Mon, from 2 p.m. till 11 p.m. Fair warning to those who want to stay here that weekend expecting any semblance of quiet!
