EL CORTEZ IN ROOM COFFEE AND TEA CHANGES

The El Cortez in room coffee has changed. The free old style coffee pots are gone. They have been replaced with Keurig machines. Next to the coffee machines are little packages that say $5 room charge if seal is broken. There are 3 different package types. Regular coffee, decaf, and tea. It appears that each package contains two servings but I did not actually open them. I think that you could use the machine if you brought your own cartridges. FYI.
I saw that in the Cabana Suites last October. Have they also changed to Keurigs in the Tower rooms? Have to remember to pack a few K-cups next trip....
I cant bring myself to ever use any of the in-room stuff. I'm convinced the guest before me ran a cycle of his urine through the coffee machine. How cynical is that? Not so much really. I spent 5 years as a traveling consultant. I can tell you horror stories about hotel rooms from my own and my co-workers collective experience that would make you feel squeamish about staying at the Bellagio - let alone El Cortez. =)
What I described was in Tower room #713. Somehow Pjstroh took all the wind out of my sail and stomach. LOL.

I just checked out of the EC. 15th floor of the tower. I saw the coffee and tea but didn't notice a sign with a charge. I saw it on the liters of water, though.
On the plus side, there was a mini- fridge.

Please don't tell any hotel room horror stories - I prefer to remain blissfully ignorant......

Although I don't know this for sure, maybe you can find K-Cups for purchase on Fremont Street at Walgreen's and/or maybe at The Market across the street from El Cortez.

Bingo - I was at the El Cortez in October and noticed the change. We purchased K-Cups at Walgreens along with a small container of milk which we stored in the refrigerator.
Thanks for the updates!
Much better than the old weak mud producing machines found in most rooms for years. I would only use those if I was too flat out lazy to go down for decent coffee. You can buy k cups at home and pack them or if you get a rental, stop buy Smiths or Vons and get a 12 pack of real coffee for $7-8 or less. That's less than $1.50 for two. If Walgreens on the strip or downtown charged $10, you're still way ahead of the game.

Good Luck!
