El Cortez Piano Bar Construction

My friend just texted me from the El Cortez. Apparently the bar area by the piano is a construction zone. Anyone know what is taking place there? It has always been one of my favorite bars for drinks and vp.

The construction is for The Parlour, a new lounge they plan to open by Labor Day.

Interesting. I hope the same bartenders and the friendly atmosphere remain.

Thats my favorite place to watch football games. I sit at the bar and watch the game, play full pay VP during the commercials, and suck down the free cocktails all the while. There's a friendly bartender there...older guy...keeps the drinks coming fast and with a smile. I hope they dont ruin that.

I was there in June and the bartender told me that the plan was to extend the bar into the area that the restrooms are in now, move the restrooms to the opposite wall, and add more lounge space in the front of the bar area. He said there will still be bar top VP, but not at every station. I believe the bar and lounge area will be level with the floor (rather than the elevated area it's now in). He said this was to upgrade the area and I asked if there would be "bottle service" lol....
