El Cortez remodeling piano bar - sneak peek

I originally posted this at LVAdvice.com, but figured I'd cross-post it here for anyone interested, since it fits nicely in the new Downtown section.

They've torn out most of the old piano bar (next to and slightly elevated from The Flame steakhouse) and they're in the process of re-building it as "THE PARLOUR". They posted a sneak peek of the progress on their Facebook page:

The EC is getting frou-frou. Say it isn't so..

I just walked by there 20 minutes ago - the picture above doesn't do it justice. Everything looks ready to open - tables are in place, TV's are on the wall and turned on, bartop machines are still out of service but they were working on them. I would have taken a picture, except there were probably 10-15 men working in there on the final touches. The bar has yet to be stocked, but I imagine that would be the last thing to do. I'm assuming they'll open in the next few days before the holiday weekend.

Seriously, the place looks very classy. Hard to believe it's the El Cortez anymore. I'm looking forward to enjoying a martini in there. Thick leather chairs, dark tables, flatscreens on the walls, etc.

Great to hear... but hopefully they keep they great bar prices

Hopefully, they keep the 8/5 BP at the bartops. Or better yet, put in some 9/6 JOB

It looks great -- can't wait to see it in person.

A woman I work with was there a couple of days ago. She said it's finished and is very nice and comfortable. The piano is there. And she said drink prices are quite reasonable -- $4-5.

Glad to see some money going into the EC.

It is really nice in there, I hung out and had a few drinks in there on 9/16.
