I've stayed in every type of room at El COrtez: the Vintage rooms, pavilion, tower, Design-a-suites, and cabana
The only rooms that have significant differences are the Cabana rooms which are located accross the street in their own building on Ogden Ave. They have a gaudy, lime green thing going on with contemporary furniture. But the qaulity and ammenities are not any different from other rooms at El Co. If you like contemporary surroundings go with the cabanas ...otherwise stay at the hotel itself which is more traditional design.
The suites give you a small "living room" area and an incredibly small jetted bathtub. I'm 6'4" and did not fit in the tub very well. But it works. Room gives you more space to spread out but nothing really worth paying for in my opinion. Each suite has its own unique theme created by professional interior designers.
All of the other rooms are essentially the same.....Tower, Pavillion, and Vintage.
-The Tower has the most convenient access from the casino floor which might make them a little more expensive.
- The Pavillions are located in the parking garage and make you walk a liitle bit and are subjected to noise from the Container Park.
-The Vintage rooms have no elevator access so you have to walk up 1 to 2 flights of stairs. But the room itself is almost identical in all three types.
There are Vintage Suites that are in that part of the hotel that give you a little more space too. Sometimes you can get one of those just for asking but its not a big deal. You just get a couch and a liitle more space.
