Explanation for the Loud Music at the D..

After reading all the complaints about the D and how loud the music is, I was interested in checking it out and seeing what the fuss was about. I assumed it was just and older crowd that missed the Fitz and didnt like current/top40/hip hop music that they played.

Holy crap, was I was wrong. This was indeed loud, and annoying. So I'm trying to figure out from their standpoint why have the volume up to 10, when 5 would do the job.

- The cool factor. Fitz had an older image and this is a way to make the D feel hip and young.
- Club like feel. Come on in, we are like a club, at 2 in the afternoon, on a Tuesday.
- Pull in the FSE crowd. Hey - we have a great soundsystem too!! Come have a drink!
- Girls. Girls like top 40/hip hop and if they like the music, maybe they will stay and bring a guy.
- Its gets people talking. The most chatter I have heard about the new D is the music and the long bar.
- The Douchebag factor. Think of the guy at the stoplight or gas station that blasts his music for all to hear not caring about what people think. They want him inside playing and drinking. He is a little dumb and free with his money, so if he hears his rap or crap rock, maybe that will make him feel at home and want to gamble..

Or, just maybe. The knob broke and they are still waiting on a replacement..

Thats about all I got..

Yes, Marko, maybe the powers that be at the D think that this is Hip to play music that loud and that it might attract a younger and more freewheeling crowd since Fitzgeralds had probably been mostly attracting the older players. That's definitely not for me and I don't know if I will tell anyone to go there unless they maybe go to where the older (and better returning) machines are.

Well another late night for me and I vote for " Or, just maybe. The knob broke and they are still waiting on a replacement.." I hear nothing but complaints from folks and many of the staff. Bar fairly full at 4 Q's and Fremont. I walked upstairs to the D and me and 2 others. Neither of whom liked the changes. Just before I left some young Blonde hotties (and yes I remember and am envious of those days) had arrived and even they were complaining about the music and how freezing it was. I forgot to mention that, the strip is usually cold but the D is the only place I had to put on my long sleeves DT.

Man this 11 for the internet is the best I ever spent for late night things to do LOL. Be safe all. this is my last night DT so no more on this post.
Here's the deal..... I'm older (50's) and played there quite a bit in the past. I walk in and walk out. It makes my ears bleed it's so amazingly loud! I SHOULD be one of the people they are looking for.... No kids at home.... disposable income... easy mark. Oh well.... plenty of other downtown places that are looking for my money! ;-)

I agree - the music is too loud and unappealing at the D and the Golden Gate. I am always complaining. I am in my sixties and would love a little jazz, or something softer. But they don't listen.
I cashed a ticket at the cage yesyerday and I could not hear the cashier when she asked me how I wanted it broken down. Absolutely insane.
one word LOUD (I'm 38)
We just got back from staying at the D. Was pleasantly surprised that at times during the morning hours ( 6 am to about 11 am) the music was actually at a decent level downstairs in the main part of the casino. Could actually hear the music the slot machine Gone With The Wind played and the volume level on the machine wasn't cranked up to top level. Was talking to the cashier ( yes, we could actually hear each other and have a conversation) and she said she thought management was finally getting it about the volume - at least at certain times. As she said , there is no need for the extra loud music when the girls (dancers) have gone home). But watch out in the latter part of the afternoon , evening and early morning hours - it is extremely LOUD.

A couple of times when I got on the elevator and the doors closed I made a comment about how nice the quiet was and my fellow elevator riders all commented that they had stayed at the D when it was Fitzgeralds and felt the new management was trying to drive them out with the volume levels. I know personally that we no longer play any table games ( Blackjack and Let It Ride) when the music is loud - we just take our business elsewhere.
I have been in the D two times since new management has taken over left within 30 minutes each time telling myself no more until the music is at a level a sane person and handle it. I alwasy have felt I was the customer in the casino and if there was something that bothered me I had the right to leave and so it easy to just walk. The new management doesn't want to listen to it's employees (talked to several and only one said the music did not biother them) he should walk the casino floor and ask his customers what they thought of it. I'm sure the music would be a lot softer. The reason it took me two times I thought it would be lower but it was not so I walked.
Stopped by there several times last week and didn't find the noise to be a problem at all. It is absolutely louder than most downtown casinos, but in my opinion this is great. There are plenty of old run down joins in the DT area for the amigos and O2 tanks to park at. Congrats to the D for spending a bunch of cash to improve the place and attempting to attract a new audience. The Long Bar will be THE PLACE to be during March Madness.
