Flew in the Wed before Thanksgiving, totally surprised at how uncrowded the airport was and car rental. Downtown was pleasantly uncrowded on Thursday and into Friday, by Friday night it was really picking up. I'd do Thanksgiving weekend again.
The D is fine, loud music aside. We loved the long bar and sat there watching several football games and playing VP. The music is loud and I agree, why? But, not so loud we avoided the D. The rooms were fine, bed was very nice. Not the Nugget but for the price we were happy. Bartenders and valet staff were very friendly.
We usually avoid the strip and hang out downtown or in "neighborhood" casinos such as Sams Town or Arizona Charlies. This time we went out to Treasure Island. Went to the bar, wife put in $20 and started playing VP. By the time the bar tender came over she was about out and he wanted to "see us put $20 in the machine......" before he'd comp us. We straightened him out but really?? When we'd ask for another round he literally bent over the bar to see if we were playing enough and our balance. If you bought a lousy Bud Light, he'd charge $6.25. At Hard Rock they charged us $9.00 for a rum and coke. So.................that's probably it for the strip for a while.
