first stay at the D

After many years staying at Fitz, this was my first at the D.
The Casino has improved, better tables, etc. I would suggest they turn down the volume on the music- it is actually uncomfortable.
We stayed in an unremodeled room, so I can't comment on the new ones.
There are some minor issues in the hotel which, individually, would not generate any comment, but taken together concern me that service will suffer in the hotel:
1-For the first time, I asked for a high room and was told no- despite acknowledgement there were rooms.
2- The water pressure has been reduced
3- the toiletries have been reduced
4- They removed the bench at the valet pickup, letting their somewhat older crowd stand in the heat while they wait for the car
5- They appear to have reduced the number of valets, making 4 worse.
I'll try them one more time. If it continues, I'll go elsewhere

The D and the Vegas Club are the only Hotels on Fremont Street that I have not stayed at. I fear they may stay on that doubiouse list if I do not see better posts on them.

Thanks for posting weggie
I agree about the music. Same issue at Golden Gate. I dont mind the volume at night so much but do we really need a Rave Party going on at 10 AM ?

this was very noticable on my last trip. they used to have the best showers.

I agree about the music at 10a.m. I sure don't need bass so intense I could feel it in my body and so loud you couldn't order a drink. I am free rooms so giving it another whirl and hope they get their act together. If not yep move on.

I also like the GG but when I tried to play VP at the bar again so loud I couldn't concentrate but at least that was later in the evening. I guess I am getting old.
I made a stop in the D last Wednesday expecting the loud music... was greeted by Cake's Short Skirt Long Jacket. That can never be played too loud. Really the volume was not an issue for me. I loved the look of the Long Bar.... god what a great job they did with that. My issue was the complete lack of attention an the bar. 4 bartenders were talking among themselves and never engaged a guest. Sure they could be bothered for 10 seconds to deliver a drink but would immediately go back to their conversations.

One lady came up to one of the bartenders and told him how glad she was to see that they kept the old staff. I might give them one more try but... it will be two strikes and they are completely out.
I agree...I prob only stay because I get comped and then stay over the weekend. The long bar is great although service SUCKS! Kinda loud when I wanna chill and drink my baileys and coffee in the am. Best morning bar- El Cortez.... quite, you can people watch, old slots ( I seem to do better on them) and fast refills on the drinks. They appreciate your business and your tips.

Props to the "D" waitresses...when they remember what you drink even if it's been a couples months. They'll go out of their way to find you on the floor. That kinda service is getting harder to find.

Off Strip place- Silverton ...great service and they comp top shelf drinks!
The D is crazy loud! Who the heck are they trying to attract? In my experience old folks like me have a LOT more disposable income to play around with. The 20 something crowd.... not as much.

I think their marketing department has got it REALLY wrong.

I was there beginning of April 2012 when the long bar was the first big change from the Fitz. Loved the bar, but also had to wait forever for service. Overall, I like what they're doing, but the bar service will have to improve. The video poker at the bar wasn't good either.

You are not missing much at the Vegas Club. It's in desperate need of a bath. Rooms are old and dirty and the back part by the valet and check in (where the stage is located) is dark, empty and creepy.
I heard they are working on some remodeling, but that was a while ago.

I do enjoy playing at the VC though. Its never so crowded you cant find a seat and the drinks are cheap (if not playing) and they waitstaff are fairly quick when you are at a table.
