Fitzgerald's hotel & casino renovation?

Hi!

Has anyone been to the Fitz lately? If so, have you noticed any renovatons going on in the casino or the hotel rooms?

Mahalo
Yes they are remodeling, I was in there everyday for the week that I stayed downtown the last week of Jan. most noticiably was the bar on the main casino floor is closed off because they are relocating it to an upstairs area someone said, even if that wasn't true about relocating it, there is definately construction going on, don't know about the rooms.
Hope they also renovate those old, slow elevators.
They put in new elevators a year or two ago. The new ones are much faster!

Now that's some good news.
We just came back yesterday from Las Vegas - stayed at Fitzgerald's. The bar downstairs is gone - still renovating the area. Jackhammers drilling, etc and the workers seem to be working almost 24 hours a day. According to staff member in the casino cage, renovations started hard cor on Monday, Jan 30. I asked a couple of different cashiers what was going in there and it seems to be a big secret - even to staff ! By Thursday morning ( Feb 2) the black curtains/screens shielding the area ( keeping some of the dust from slot players ???) were down and you could see the walls had been painted and new pot lights put in ( was quite bright but maybe the lights will be dimmed when completed).

The poker area on the 2nd floor by the Keno lounge is closed down/gone - the manager/supervisor from the poker room is working at the keno desk. I asked him if the poker area was coming back and he said he didn't know - depended on if they had room after the renovations are finished ??????. Where the poker area was is a big blank space with signage " Look for our new slot area coming soon".

I am thinking they may also be renovating some of the rooms as one person on the elevator said in their room for several hours they could hear crashing, etc and looked out the window to see toilets being disposed of into a container.
Thank you for all the responses.

Is the coffee shop still there? Heard that they may also add a buffet....

Will be staying there next month.....

Mahalo.....

Coffee shop is still there on the 2nd floor. No buffet to speak of but they do offer a salad bar,soup/baked potato special set up in the buffet area ( I think it may be $5.99 for this during certain times). I never tried it but I saw several people taking advantage of it . They used to offer pasta as part of the special but not sure if that is still a choice - may be only a lunchtime thing. We had soup and 1/2 sandwich special one day - there were 2 kinds of soup for choice and we got the soup from the "buffet" area ( or waitress will bring it to you) - it was chicken / rice and was good.

Check the Fremont Street Experience website as there is a coupon for 2 for 1 burgers. I heard the waitress telling someone that the coupon is good for any burger on their menu - we had a turkey burger and it was quite good.
I would not want to stay at any hotel during major renovations. Are they giving their guests earplugs while they are jackhammering?
