The Flame---really?

I would like someone to match Oscars steak house up against the Flame and give us a review! Hell, I might just fly back to do it myself!

Wife and I ate at Flame two weeks ago. It was just ok, not great like on previous trips. It does seem to have dropped off a bit from previous years. Could be that all the negative reviewers here were all there the same night as us and it was just a bad night.

I also found the endless loop tv a little distracting. What does it have to do with Flame Restaurant??? As to dress code, they suggest a dress code, but unless you're a super high end place charging $115 a steak, I think most places are a little loose with their dress code. Bother me? Nah, makes interesting dinner conversation.
As an onion ring expert, I can say with confidence; The Flame has totally kick-ass onion rings.

I too thought the video playing (the same one you describe) was quite odd.
Our waiter, while friendly, needed polish.

I just got back from LV. We ate at the Flame and it was great. I used the LVA coupon. We both had filet Medium Rare as a good steak should be. The creamed corn once again YUM. I think we were both offered a pick of bread from the basket brought around. I am not sure if they came around again with bread, but it was warm and good. I love the cranberry thing . Also a side of garlic mashed way to much food for the 2 of us. I love my steak MR but also don't like my blood to mix with the rest so I also appreciate the separate plate for the steak. Can't beat the price for the quality.

Our only complaint ,the first drink they served me was rimmed in salt instead of sugar (lemon drop) and I sent it back and my friend who had 3 of the same drinks , one in the bar,one at the tables and one in the Flame said each booze was different.

This was my second time at the flame and I wouldn't hesitate to return. I didn't see any TV's, but I don't look for that.

We've always enjoyed The Flame (formerly Roberta's, I think the old name carries more history, it was named after Jackie Gaughan's wife). I kind of think of it as the gourmet room in the cheapest casino in town that has a gourmet room. I sure don't go there looking for ambience (yeah, the video is odd), but the service has always been friendly and competent (although we had our first bad service experience there back in January; hopefully that waiter isn't there anymore). The food has been a bit uneven, certainly not world-class but generally very good, and the prices are just fine (especially with the MRB coupon, or a restaurant.com certificate). I think it's a matter of expectation; expect the gourmet room in the El Cortez.

Personally, I like my beef medium-rare, but I sympathize with people who like well-done beef, and there's a lot of room between well-done with no pink, and completely dried out.

Your report is informative and helpful.

A well done steak is not well done!

That's very clever TonyRob. I like it.

RE: Pasta Palace and the FSE coupon page...does anyone know the username/password they ask for? I think RecVPPlayer has shared it in the past, but can't find the old post. If you're reading, please help! Thanks
