The Binions and Plaza steakhouses are fine. The pizza at Plaza is also great. Too bad they dropped McDonalds at Plaza though. The D hotdog stand is great also.

And don't forget there is a LVA coupon at Coney Island Hotdog at the D. Also a matchplay.
Glad McDonalds is gone at the Plaza! Don't miss it for a second. Plaza keeps upgrading food offerings and I'm glad for it.

I've given up on that place. Magnolia's at the Four Queens is better, but dear God, their prices have zoomed skyward. Quite frankly, downtown has become a food desert. While there are still some decent places to eat, the prices there are Strip-style insane.
That's why when I'm visiting Vegas, I eat all my meals at Emerald Island or Rainbow.
BTW that place upstairs at Binions, I forget the name, is pretty good.
I'm a big fan of many restaurants in the Fremont East Entertainment District. It's about 1/3 of a mile from the middle of Fremont casinos. Under the umbrella, it has become disappointing. Specifically, I love Carson Kitchen.

I remember the days when there was no "umbrella". Things changed when they came up with this electronic stuff, the noise, the pan handlers, the druggies, and the people just hanging around there watching the scenery. It became somewhat ridiculous for the real gamblers. Golden Gate and the D have enormous volume levels inside their property, no normal functioning employee would tolerate this noise under normal conditions. It's a shame what happened to Downtown Las Vegas. I used to like it a lot. I was a loyal customer of the El Cortez. Covid did the job, plus the whole concept. The homeless people sleeping on the street are making the whole experience a bit scary to me. I decided to say good-bye to Downtown Las Vegas. There are enough places to spend my money. The homeless are usually harmless. I'm not scared of them, and yeah maybe I don't want to see them, but they're human beings and have the right to exist...and have just as much right to be there as I. Now of course someone reading this says, yeah, but they're all druggies and thieves and they eat cats, or whatever. The fact of the matter is that a society where people have to sleep on the street is a failure. And dear God, is Las Vegas ever a failure from a societal standpoint. A parasitic cesspool of misery and deprivation. The opiate of the masses.
The FSE subtracts from, not adds to, the downtown experience. And it, along with all the attendant loud entertainment, sure ruins a night's sleep in any of the adjacent hotels. But we have to acknowledge, the same way we must with celebrity wrestling and monster truck rallies, that some folks are absolutely enthralled by it.
The El Corpse used to be a GREAT place to stay, eat, and play. I, too, was a loyal customer. For what Stations did to it, their CEO should be tied up, slathered with barbecue sauce, and tossed into a den of grizzly bears.
