Four Queens Options

Need some advice on the Four Queens. Haven't stayed there before, but have comped rooms in early April. Based on what I've read, the South Tower is somewhat nicer than the North. Is it worth an extra "tip" at the hotel desk to try to get a room in the South Tower on a higher floor or will either be fine? I'm a Vegas regular traveling by myself with the focus on gambling - but I'm also middle-aged where a little peace and quiet (and a nicer room) is appreciated. I don't need to stare at the Fremont Street Experience 24/7. Been there, done that. Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated! Thank you for your help!
The rooms in the South Tower might be a little nicer (although I'm not absolutely sure about that) but I do know that the South Tower rooms are further away from the noise on Fremont Street and so I definitely prefer that (being away from the FSE noise).

I've read the same about south tower rooms, so it might be worth a tip to get there. I will say though, that I stayed there last summer in a north tower room and had no problems. I was on the fifth floor, but about halfway down the hall, so noise wasn''t a problem. The north tower elevator drops you into the casino about 30 seconds away from Fremont if that matters. The south tower elevator is just off of the checkin desk away from, but close to the casino. It is also convenient to valet drop off, valet pickup and self park. I mention this as drop off and pickup are not the same location. Dropoff is east of checkin and pickup is just west of checkin. At checkin they give you a parking pass you'll need to exit the garage unless you want to pay the daily rate, even though you valeted, so put it in your car the first time you pick up. Kinda quirky. Evidently 4Qs doesn't own the garage.

My room was newly renovated, but a bit small. I was alone so it was no problem, but I would think it would be ok for a couple as well. Magnolia's is a decent cafe. I didn't eat at Hugos, but I've always heard good things about it. The Chicago Brewing Co is great for a nice cocktail. Drink portions are huge and prices are small. I was charged $4.50 for a Dewars Scotch on the rocks, which was easily more than a double. I like to have a couple before dinner, so I went back the next day and ordered while played VP. Same portion (with a different bartender) and the comp receipt was the same $4.50! A single most places in LV is at least $7.00 on up, so it's frugal place to imbibe.

Beyond that, you're right in the middle of everything. Enjoy your trip.

Good Luck!

Just saying, that if you have a room over looking FSE, then you cant see whats going on. If you have a room on the 5th floor, you can easily look out your window and watch it all.

I am happy to have 4q comps, and recently snuck in with no advance reservation! Thanks, rayellen! I prefer the south, for noise avoidance. I stay on east coast time, mostly, so having racket out the window from 10-3AM EST is a problem. The clerks may not need a tip. I have no problem with requesting what i want there. I actually prefer a bathroom with a counter i can lean on when i get up/down. 'Cause I'm old! Good luck!
Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply to my post. I haven't spent a lot of time at the Four Queens, but have always enjoyed the look and feel of the casino - going all the way back to when the Beatles tribute "Rain" used to play there. (Am I dating myself?) It sounds like regardless of where I end up in the hotel, the rooms will be fine. I like the idea being a little further away from the Fremont Street Experience, so I'll shoot for the South Tower so that I can be well rested to chase my fortune. (Been chasin' it in Las Vegas for 20+ years now. Good thing I'm an optimist!) Thanks again!
you're welcome. getting freemont street down, vis a vis, what level play i believe yields optimum comps, and how to spread around the play above and beyond the 'home' casino, makes my entertainment in LV arguably the biggest bargain in my leisure repertoire. Sure, I priceline an occasional 4* joint. But i learned on LVA to not fall in love with the upholstery. Good luck!
Their suites are recently renovated...some have jetted tubs...some dont. I've seen them advertised on Expedia for as low as $65/night in off season periods. If you can score one of those for under $100 you will be getting a really good deal.

Regular rooms are almost exactly what you would expect at a typical Holiday Inn.

I stay 3x a year in their suites and I would never refer to the rooms as recently renovated. It has to be at least 4-5 years ago that the suites I have stayed were been renovated. They are already looking worn. In fact there are MANY hotels where I would take a regular room over a Four Queens suite. Of course, the suites are better than the regular rooms, but that is not saying much.
I stayed in a Suite in January and it was the same as it has been for the last 4 years. Pretty average. The bathrooms are just so dated. Has it been upgraded since then?
