Free Nights at the Golden Gate

Just returned from Las Vegas. I used a 3 free nights promotion I received in a brochure from the Golden Gate. Although the room was clean and comfortable, the free rooms face Fremont street. The noise level is truly unbelievable. Free rooms are great, but, so is the ability to sleep at a normal time. Think twice before you accept this deal.
The one time that I stayed there, the room faced Fremont Street. It was horrible with all of that noise! That will never happen to me again. I want as much quiet as possible when I rest/sleep!

Did you request a room with two beds? Most of these types of rooms face the FSE. I've taken up the Gate's free room offers for the past couple of years. I always request a room toward the rear of the hotel, facing Main St. The rooms on the east side of the hotel face an alley; they empty the dumpsters around 05:00 hrs each morning. Did your offer specify only rooms facing Fremont? I usually request a room with a single bed; never had a problem getting a room with the forementioned specifications. I had room 307 last Oct. and it was quiet even on Friday night.

Glasses can affect your vision; especially when they have been emptied several times....

Spring Break 2000 !!!
I stayed in one of the rooms facing Fremont street trying to save a few bucks for my gamboling bankroll. After night one of no sleep, a walked down to the walgreens on Fremont Street and bought those squishy ear plugs for my ears. After night two of no sleep I rented a room at the Fremont!

Thanks for reminding me about that, Weggie! I did end up buying earplugs after the first night because of being in that room but they did not help me either! I stayed there for I think 4 nights (this was back in 1996 I think).

We stayed there on a Saturday night the end of September on a comp offer. I have no idea what our room faced as the window was so high up we couldn't see out of it but it was very quiet. We were on the 4th floor in the room directly opposite the elevator.
I'm getting 3 free nights over the Superbowl weekend which is nice. I always ask for a small queen room away from FSE and have always been lucky to get one. Otherwise, I'm sure it's unbearable.
Is it just unbearable until midnight when the light show is on?
I've done the Fremont walk at 2 am and it's pretty quiet once the light show and bands give up for the night.

I know that Biglar has mentioned about the Garbage Truck wake up call at some ungodly hour (I can't right now remember what hour it is), so be aware of that as well.

I received the same offer of 3 nights...I wonder if the comp includes the resort fee? Has anyone gotten that waived? What is the charge per night?

Thanks
