Freedom Beat at the DG

the new restaurant that has replaced S+O, is a bit high priced for a downtown American fare café. S+O was a little bit high, but I could make it work with a BOGO offer. the fact that they may have a live band playing at times adds no value for me. we shall see how this works out, perhaps another revamp will take place before you know it. there have been many changes at the DG since opening, so I do give them credit for trying.
I'm inclined to agree with you that the prices are a bit pricey for downtown, but I wouldn't say they're prohibitive. I think it's pretty cheap of them to NOT include fries with their burgers (at least I didn't see that it say they are included). So a burger & fries for $18 is more than I would personally pay. That said, there were a LOT of meal items on their menu that seem like they'd be delicious. I think their breakfast items rival what if offered at Hash House at Plaza (albeit without the enormous portions).
