Fremont Street aka Bourbon Street!

After reading "The Las Vegas Sun", there seems to be a serious discussion ongoing about the problems downtown..There is an effort to keep new liquor stores out and under-age drinking controlled..The Hotels
haven't helped the process by moving their bars outside under the Canopy during evening hours..Couple that
with some head-banging music on the stages and Liquor stores selling Hi-malt % beer and there is a problem. I see where the younger generation Vegas goer is gambling less and partying more and it presents a problem for the Casinos..The music is getting too loud in the evenings in the Casinos. The Casinos either appeal to the younger gambler or the older gambler, you can't do both. The City needs to clean up Fremont and make it respectable again or risk losing one or the other...In essence cut the underage drinking, panhandling and drugs. They need a larger Police presence on Fremont Street..
I agree that the city and the casinos need to adjust the drinking balance downtown somehow. It should be boisterous but not riotous. A tough thing to get right, but they need to keep trying.

P.S.
Fremont. John Charles Fremont. Very famous American.

Are we talking "drunk party heat" college kids or "drunk douchebags" running around FSE?

I do remember the crowd being a little more obnoxious on my last trip. There seemed to be more methy-white-trash/drunk thuggy looking guys around than in years past. I just chalked it up to me getting older.

Im headed back next weekend and will report back..

The latest proposal seems really stupid! Require all liqour store purchases to be in a sealed brown bag..Liquor purchase in a Casino must be put in a solo cup..Yet, no restrictions on the strip..It seems they are grasping at straws for a solution but getting ready to screw up Fremont street..

Thanks for clarifying for our readers: Fremont. Not "Freemont". Remember people: F-R-E-M-O-N-T !

Hey Group,

According to the entry that was posted at 15:53PM on June 18, 2014 in the "Today's News" section on this website, effective today, Sunday, June 22, 2014 there is now a can and bottle ban for alcohol on Fremont Street and the piece also mentions other restrictions that if they haven't happened already will probably happen sooner than later on Fremont Street. So check it out!

I'm now seeing that (as of 7:00 AM) once again in the "Today's News" section of this website it says that the ban on alcoholic bottles and cans is now in effect. And hopefully the other plans listed in the above-mentioned entry of "Today's News" will come into effect shortly as well!

Hmm, University of Michigan is it?

Well, just know it doesn't bother me in the least. In fact, it helps me classify both your friendliness and capacity for learning.

So now you "no"
I spelled it that way intentionally to prove a point. It's not about friendliness,it's about "smart" people sitting behind their computor screens waiting for someone to make a mistake so they can pounce and rip the person for the mistake. How sad is that.
