Fremont Street aka Bourbon Street!

The fix approved by the City Council will not fix the problem..Carding the underage drinkers might work but simply putting things in a plastic container ain't the answer!
I am enjoying the usual Chilcoot rants about spelling, political philosophies, etc. and his/her dueling with bbking but I do want to add my thoughts to the heading: Fremont Street has a long way to go to be equal to Bourbon Street believe me.

Agreed. Bourbon Street is awful. The current Fremont Street is not the best one I've seen, but it's still pretty great.

I'm glad I saw Bourbon Street, but never again.

I agree with your comparison between Fremont Street and Bourbon Street. Bourbon Street is utterly filthy and disgusting and I'll never go back. Perhaps if I was an alcoholic then I wouldn't mind the smell of urine in the streets.

Wait a minute people I did not say I did not like Bourbon Street I just said Fremont Street does not compare to Bourbon Street. I agree that Bourbon Street is filthy and smells bad but it has a definite charm to it. I try to get there once a year. My wife even likes it. I guess I might say nice place to visit once in a while but I would not want to live there.
I still agree with your statement: "Fremont Street has a long way to go [down] to be equal to Bourbon Street believe me."
I just got back from my annual Vegas trip..The street panhandlers and performers were so bad they were shoulder to shoulder almost blocking myself and wife from going across to one Casino to another.
There has to be a maximum allowed or the tourists cannot easily flow through Fremont street..Smell wise it doesn't compare to Bourbon street but visible skin it outranks Bourbon street..I've seen less skin inside some Men's strip clubs..Don't bring your children to Fremont after hours...The only time I really enjoy Fremont is during the morning or early afternoon..We did do well on the slots this time..Enjoyed the new Grand Casino but we always stay at Main Street..

I was amazed to see how many idiots were out there with children at night. It's already crowded enough as you accurately stated. That won't keep me from staying at the Four Queens since I don't go out there at night anymore. Fortunately, I can get to my car in the parking garage without having to go that direction. I also stay at Main Street Station and then I never have to see it. I agree that it's much better earlier in the day.

During my most recent visit to Fremont Street during the second week of August, I could see that it wasn't a good place for kids to be at at least at night. I do think that the new policy of having plastic cups out there may have cut down on some of the rowdiness there. And I was happy to see more of a police presence there as well!

But I didn't see many panhandlers and characters there this time. I did notice at least a couple of working women where I really hadn't seen much at all of that previously.

I just spent the weekend downtown and didn't experience this at all.

Yes, there were many panhandlers and performers. But they are grossly outnumbered by simple tourists like myself. 50-1? 100-1? Hard to say, but in that ballpark.

Nor did I have any difficulty at all moving from casino to casino. At all.

Oh, and while I don't like the way the zip line's structures have broken up Fremont Street and pedestrians' views of the canopy, I have to admit that upper set of lines is pretty dang amazing looking, and it's fun to see the people up there joyfully whiz past.
