Heading to Vegas May 1 and from what I'm reading, it appears a lot of restrictions are lifting that day. I'm wondering whether there have been live bands (or will there be) downtown on Fremont Street?

Check out the FSE web site.
There won't be live bands until June 1 at the very, very earliest. While many restrictions are being lifted as of May 1, gatherings of large groups without social distancing will still be prohibited---and the live band performances attract large, closely packed crowds.
There's another consideration as well, in that these bands have to be booked months in advance. The FSE couldn't do that until it was sure that those bands would be able to perform---and they didn't know, until very recently, when that would be. So my guess would be that they're trying to book now for July at the earliest.
Even though I'm fully vaccinated, I would still be leery of being in a tightly packed crowd of maskless, screaming people. Of course, that would be your call.
I prime the li e bands. It's entertaining than the guys banging on the plastic bu kets!⁶
I think that my credit cards were SKIMMED in the FSE crowd a few years back. Me no like tightly-packed people.
