getting tripped downtown

Under most circumstances, using your players card at any of the Caesars properties generates a "trip" and could adversely affect your offers if you don't play up to your usual daily average. I was a low diamond there and now am a platinum. Playing minimally as part of the Race to Rewards last year has torpedoed my room offers from Total Rewards in Vegas but I don't care because I'd rather not stay there.
Do any other Vegas casinos use "tripping" to this extent? I am specifically referring to the Boyd properties and El Cortez (don't laugh, I love playing an staying there. My money lasts longer and the machines seem to treat me better).
A friend is going to Vegas solo. She has been treated decently by the El Cortez on about $2,000 coin in per day, free rooms anytime plus food and free slot play. She wants to play there on this trip but not as much as usual. She is not using her room offer on this trip but instead is using the LVA BOGO Cabana Suites coupon. If she gives them about $200 a day slot/VP action and uses her players card is she damaging her future offers? I say absolutely, but would like advice from seasoned Vegas sages. Should she just play without her card?
What about the downtown Boyd properties?
Sorry can't help you with the El Cortez but we did ask a host about Boyd. They tend to group their properties for tripping cards. If you play downtown it does not effect you average say at the Orleans/Gold Coast which are grouped together. She also said they look more at a trip total instead of a daily average per say.
Thanks!
Although I have not stayed at El Cortez, I am a Slot Club member there and there is written information around that announces that a Free room during the week comes from earning 2,000 original points per day (not including any point multipliers) and on the weekend and holidays it takes 3,000 points played per day to get a comped room.

And since their Slot Club earns both Cashback and Comps, this should be taken into consideration.

I also do know that Four Queens seems to more be looking at play per day (and so a short amount of play on the day that you are leaving could very well negatively affect your future offers there).

How much coin in would you guess would be required to start generating 4 Queens offers?

For Free night offers, I think that it probably would be at the minimum about $1k to $1,200 per day (at least for Video Poker play) -- unless someone else here knows better.

That 2,000, 3,000-point offer is the one that I get with no free play. my friend gets 3 comped nights, plus food and slot play with no written requirement for points totals. and she probably doesn't hit the 2,000 figure on the weekdays, However, her luck in the casino is not as good as mine and I think that is a big factor in her and my offers.
Yes, Lin, it definitely is possible (although I don't know this for a fact) that El Cortez may be taking into consideration whether you have won or lost during your most recent trip. Other casinos have done this too.

The more you play at El cortez the better the offers. And, no, just stopping in and playing does not trip you.
My friend would be staying there, though not on the casino offer.

I play there much more than my friend but it seems that once I started winning there my offers got downgraded.
