getting tripped downtown

Lin,

What you're saying can very well be true because there are casinos that do actually factor in whether you have done well on your trip(s) as to what they may offer you!

I (at least previously) was told that they do take that into consideration at Plaza and Las Vegas Club and so it certainly could be that way as well at El Cortez (since they were all previously owned by the same people).

We stayed at El Cortez for the first time in April. We played approximately $200/day through the slots on one card. Also used the Cabana suite. I have yet to receive a single mailer and/or offer. I assume it wasn't worthy for a first time player there.

At least as far as I know, offers from El Cortez won't start coming until you have what they consider to be enough of a track record. A while ago I think I was told that I wouldn't really get any kind of offer until I had run through in my playing lifetime 6,000 points. But I do also play Blackjack there.

That is a good question, what impact does table play, in comp mailers. I get a full comp for as long as I want, most time 10 days = 9 nights. I play tables most of the time but also play slots 10,000 base points per day. I am just saying what part of my comp was/is in table and what part in slots? I have never asked my host but would like to know.

That is a good question and I would love to hear their answer but I bet they value the slot play more. That's a lot of slot points in one day.
When I play slots I don't usually have time for table play of any kind. If I did both I don't think there would be an easy answer to my question.

You played $200 through, or you LOST $200? That's a huge difference. $200 played is a minimal amount by the standards of any casino, especially for comping standards. Now if you cycled it through several times, stayed and played for an hour or two then that's a different matter. The average video poker player runs about 600 hands in the course of an hour. Playing quarters that's $750 per

it would be $200 lost.
I was there over labor day and asked slot host Nords this question. in a roundabout, non-direct way, he said yes it could hurt your offers, which he said are computer generated. He said the casino is most concerned about people who get free play, burn through the free play and leave. He also said that a one-time, small play trip wouldn't really hurt an out of towner because that play is based on a 18-month cycle, while the cycle for locals is much shorter.
I forgot what the locals cycle is because it did not concern me, maybe something like three months?
I did not ask if winning affects your offers, but from my experience it does. not that i win big there but a few $500 jackpots and a royal now and then. my friend loses consistently and her offers always are better than mine.
My offer consists of casino rate room, $15 in food comps, 5X points one day and no free play. the room is comped if you run $2000 through machines daily, $3000 weekends.
I started getting this offer 2 years ago after a two-day comped trip where I hit a royal and then checked out at 1 pm the next day to catch a plane. that second day I gave them my usual amount of play before I left, well enough to cover the comped room, but my offers went into the crapper after that and have stayed that way ever since.

This is the offer that I have been constantly getting but I also got their newsletter (that didn't happen for October) which included another coupon for 2X points on a Tuesday or Thursday but I was told that for that coupon, I would have to earn 3,000 points for my trip during the last (I think) 3 months.

I have been getting the newsletter all along.
