Gold Spike Review

Stayed Oct 4th....arrived at 3am and after a 19 1/2 hr drive could have slept anywhere. This was the plan, few hours sleep and a shower, really all this hotel is good for. $17 bucks for the night, spun the wheel and won $20 food comp.

The beds a quite hard, pillow were so-so...biggest problem with the hotel is the vertical blinds in the windows and the bright teal blue paint on the walls. It's so bright you can read a book...

No blow dryer...I never pack one...pony tail it is.

Had breakfast wasn't bad, I wouldn't run back but in a pinch would return.

I'm at The Hotel @ Mandalay now in my giant suite ,what a difference!

I know exactly what you mean about the blinds in the room. They are right beside the head of the bed, too! I tried sleeping facing the window, but light poured in thru the blinds. I tried facing the other way, but the light just reflected off the super bright walls!

Oh well, it was still worth the few dollars they charge. I was actually shocked by how clean my room was. The hotel hallway was another story though!

I hate blinds and shutters when I sleep! I want as much darkness as possible!

This is why I gave up on staying at Fremont Casino's Hotel. One stay there with their shutters and I said never again!

That's good to know....I like it dark too. We're staying at the Plaza next week 1st time ever, hope it's ok there.

they still collect a resort fee, don't they?

While I havent stayed there overnight, I have played at the GS many times since the renovation and its always a good time. Never a big crowd and the dealers are cool (and not to hard on the eyes too).

The 24 hour grill is great for a late night bite. I sat at the counter and service was quick and friendly.

I actually look forward to staying a night.. just to say i have..
