Even though I am a Las Vegas resident I enjoy staying at the Golden Gate and have been doing so for a long time feel that I am pretty reasonable in stating that even the revamped older rooms are best for one person as they are small and the bathroom is tiny.
In a humorous but serious vein when a woman is involved in sharing a room the bathroom is a crucial factor if it is nicer than what one has at home this scores points most of the time. Women are always testing us guys and to me it is just a fun part of the battle of the sexes!!!!!! I say if a guy has a lady companion that could be content with a room at the Golden Gate ( older room) he really has a partner to work with in a positive way .
I stayed at the G Gate the other night and wound up room 401. Which is one of the new deluxe rooms. It was very nice and after many dozens of nights in the older rooms was speechless in a positive way. The bath room was larger and the shower with the large rain head was excellent and the water temp plus pressure was even. The shower itself was very nice and would accommodate more than one person and would be a blast. The design of the bathroom was simple and the style was modern. The new section is towards the back of the property and does not get the direct blast of sound from Fremont Street at least on a Thursday Nt. The room also had great closet space and the queen bed was very comfortable. The room had a zen like simplicity . The floor was carpeted and the door was a stronger one than the ones for the older ones.
I asked what the rooms went for and was told that with all charges including resort fee the rate was $100.50 . I happen to be a regular at the Golden Gate as I enjoy generous Food , Room and Free play comps every month. I like the honkey tonk atmosphere of the casino and all of the dancers plus I enjoy sitting at the bar and playing VP. Dupars is also a spot I enjoy. Over the years I have gotten to know a lot of the staff and they are very nice .
i have changed my view and am of the opinion that with the deluxe rooms for a couple it could be a nice room and the location Down town is great. I am a big fan of the Valet Parking and have let many a single woman know that they can go downtown with out a man and park safely by using the Golden Gate Valet and go to Dupars without leaving the Casino if they are timid about Downtown as once I introduce them to this restaurant they generally want to go back for another good meal.
With out having a discussion on machines , pay tables and all of the technical side of gaming leaving that for another thread . Plain and simple I enjoy giving the Golden Gate my business and am treated very well.
I know people like to grumble about Resort Fees and go for frugality on this site in many cases. When I go to another town the room rates are almost always higher than in Las Vegas . In the context of a fun vacation with money to be spent on gambling, food, fun and excursions and not worrying about every penny spent for a Downtown stay with the crazy buzz and many great dining choices plus the nearby Smith Center ( take a cab or drive it dont walk) I get a kick out of the Golden Gate and wanted to share my feelings. I originally was going to take a few photos to share on my iPhone but never got around to it.
