Golden Gate to temp. close

I was called by a Casino Host last night stating that around Nov. 23rd they will close for approx. 4 weeks and my Dec. Resv. will be honored at the Fitz instead.
Did they say why?

I wonder if it has to do with the remodel?
Said rooms closed due to the remod but casino to remain open.
Very interesting! Thanks for that information!

Update, I called the GG to confirm I use the same conf. # for the Fitz etc. and asked specifically when they are stopping room renting, they said Nov. 28th until Dec. 23rd but that everything else in operation.
I actually received just the other day in the snail-mail Golden Gate's Offers and Events for December/January and although it is offering me 2 Free Nights for January, it mentions that they are expanding but it doesn't specifically say that they are actually closing the hotel rooms down for any period of time.

It does mention that they are adding a five-story tower with 16 new hotel suites including two 1,600 square foot luxury suites plus some other stuff around the property which should all be completed by the Summer of 2012.

Rec,

When I talked to that host yesterday to confirm the Fitz conf. # she had told me that she had just found out the day before about the room closings, that's why it probably wasn't in your mailer. Also, I suspect that this was a last minute change, or they wouldn't have taken my room resy to begin with for early Dec.
Golden Gate's rooms are great, the Fitz's rooms are nasty.

You got screwed. I'd cancel your reservation and book with the Plaza or MSS.
The golden gate rooms are very small. The rooms are crowded with 2 people in them.

Yes, but the GG's rooms are pretty much still in "new" condition from the renovations not to long ago. The fitz's rooms are like they were in the early/mid 90's.
