Golden Nugget & 4 Queens

Making trip Nov8-13, hope to return to downtown, need comments on 4 Queen rooms also comments on rooms at Golden Nugget with info on each tower. We are 75 and 60 years old, moderate drinkers usually in bed by Midnight gambling budget of 5 K. Have stayed at Flamingo the last five years. Any other suggestions or comments will be appreciated. Thanks Bobby
After staying at the Flamingo for the last 5 years, the rooms at the Four Queens aren't going to cut it for you. The bathrooms at the Four Queens are actually SMALLER than the bathrooms at the Flamingo if that's any indication. The rooms aren't much bigger.

Golden nugget would be a better option but I haven't stayed there in almost 20 years so can't really help you out with those.

I have pictures of the Four Queens rooms on my website at:

My husband and I are in our 60's and find the rooms at the 4 Queens small - we felt we were "tripping" over each other and there are only a couple of wooden chairs for seating. Even a room not directly on Fremont Street is a little on the noisy side for our liking. Plus side to the 4 Queens is the elevators from the rooms open to the casino floor - not a long distance.

Golden Nugget rooms are larger and quieter - downside is it is quite a hike to the casino floor from the elevators. I personally would opt for rooms at Golden Nugget.
Gold Tower is close to the elevators not a lot of walking (we like lower floors)---rooms very nice (all recently re-done)---very clean---for the most part very friendly---Lily's Noodle house great food---weekends crowded---early a possible check-in lines get long---and you step outside great for people watching...Between the two choices Golden Nugget hands down.

I stayed at GN in august (gold tower) and was very impressed overall with the property. I have stayed at 4Q several times and it is basic lodging. I usually travel solo in vegas, so basic lodging is fine. If you are getting comped or at least a very good discount, go for the GN, it is by far the nicest downtown property. check with a casino host, they may be able to cover some of your charges at checkout. good luck and I hope you can multiply you 5K!
Rooms aside, with a $5K gambling budget you'll get much better comps at the 4Q if you are video poker/slot players.
Just stayed at 4Qs at the end of Sept. It was my first time staying there...probably my last. Think of a room from a Motel 6 back in the '80s; that's what it was like. Small room, tiny bathroom, low hard bed, pathetic toiletries, narrow depressing hallways.
That said, I like the gambling better there than anywhere else downtown. Very troubling trying to reconcile the comps to a property I'm not fond of. Oh, except Hugo's Steak House. I love Hugo's Steak House...and if you pay with comps you get a discount.
I concur. We stayed there once free some weekend in March a couple years ago...WASNT WORTH IT. It was clean but horribly dated. (1960s Motel 6 to me..) And our room overlooked the FSE--it was so loud I could not read with earplugs in! (much less watch any TV)...the 2nd night I told DH I wanted to go to the airport early so I could get some sleep!!!
We have GN booked for next week with a group. I got 4Q deal & it is less than half of GN...even paying $10 more for the south tower. But DH refuses--and maybe I am glad he does!!
You can't beat the Golden Nugget rooms for downtown. Regardless of whether or not you play there, it's a great place to stay.
I really like the GN property. I wish they would send me some more good offers for a free room. i played a lot on pai gow poker and slots. my son used my card also, but i have not seen any offers.
