Golden Nugget/Landry's Select Club

We will be checking in on Tuesday, July 6th. We booked at a special $34 rate for South Tower. Very anxious to see what kind of upgrade we get with Landrys card. I was hoping for North Tower too, but will have no problem if they offer me a Jr. suite. Will let you know what happens.
Upadate: We checked in at the GN on 7/6 using VIP check-in with our Landrys card. We were told that the upgrade is only availbale to Rush tower junior suites and that none were available for thhe length of our stay (7 nights). It probably works better for a shorter stay. We did get a line pass to use at the restaurants and ate at the Chart House using our Landrys card. Very good food and very cool aquarium. We also used VIP lounge to pick up many bottles of water, juice, and snacks.
Thanks for the update!
Just read TSD's post and am now worried. I booked a Landry's reservation for a Gold Club room and am now wondering if I would have been better off trying the $20 trick.

I seem to remember reading that the desk folks at the GN were very much not able to play the $20 trick game, with the threat of termination if they did.
I just got back from Vegas and was at the GN last Sunday and Monday nights. I had booked the South Tower $39/night special and was upgraded to the North Tower. She said there were no Rush Tower suites available. The place was absolutely packed for those 2 days, so I did believe her. I didn't get any line passes, though. Maybe I should have asked???

Still love the Grotto and the service there as well. I used my $25 free credit there for lunch with my friend. I'll definitely get back to the Nugget and make use of the VIP checkin and free upgrades. I think that was the best $25 investment I made!
We have staying at the Nugget and have been part of the Private Arrangement Club for quite a while. I am possibly looking at signing up for the Landry's Card. Because of the proximity to the parking garage, the Carson Tower has always been the best for us. Hence, I was wondering if all the rooms are pretty much the same in the Carson Tower and if we could get an upgrade from the Landry's Card, what could we expect......if anything.
If you're not on a promotional rate, you can generally expect an upgrade to a Rush Tower room or junior suite from a full-fare Carson Tower room, if available. The Rush Tower is really nice (a big upgrade from the Carson Tower, in my opinion). The junior suite is a slightly larger version of the standard Rush Tower room, so it's not the end of the world if you "only" get a regular Rush Tower upgrade.

The parking garage is easily accessible from the Rush Tower, too, although we used the Rush Tower valet almost every time.

It's $25 for the Landry's card, but you get $25 to spend at partnering restaurants (I highly suggest Grotto at the GN for lunch!), and a bonus $25 in your birthday month, plus the chance at a free room upgrade -- it's easy to pull the trigger on this if you're already planning to stay there.
Question!!! Hubby and I are staying at the Nugget starting next Sat. (finally finally finally finally...sigh.....really missed Vegas, man) When I booked, I paid extra to make sure the king/non-smoking was secured and to use VIP check-in. Thought I'd go that way since I am sometimes tired of always frugaling and cheaping out. Now, does that mean that we have access to the VIP room??

Also obtained a Landry's Card in high hopes of an upgrade, since I am now afraid to use the $20.00 trick. Last time I was there and tried to use it, the check-ins got cranky.
