Golden Nugget pool frustration

We stayed there last week and generally speaking, are very fond of the Nugget. We had planned to spend a lot of time by the pool. However, as soon as it opens, people go in and throw a towel, book, bag, even single slippers, to hold and reserve chairs. They have signs stating you cannot reserver chairs. We observed numerous reserved chairs sit unoccupied past noon. I'm talking over 4 hours and no one used them, all the while person after person would come in looking for a place to sit. We complained to the guy up front and he just said they're not supposed to do that Really?? Well, thanks for nothing. we visited with several guests who were fed up with it and going to go elsewhere where they could enjoy the pool.

I wrote the nugget and got back a nice answer apologizing and offering some pool freebies on our next visit. Nothing, however, about doing anything about it. I suggested someone monitor it a little, it wasn't hard to note the chairs not being used for hours. I'm not talking about a few chairs, you come down to the pool at 9 and every chair is "reserved" and almost all have no one using them. If you gathered there stuff and they had to come pick it up somewhere, people would quickly get the message.

unreal the number of selfish people who were doing this.
Wow! That's just rotten what people will do! No respect for others, only ME ME ME!

Some cruise lines are now dealing with this problem by putting stickers on supposedly "saved" pool chairs stating that if the supposed "owner" isn't back within 40 minutes their items will be removed so that another person may use the chair. I applaud this approach.
This happens at hotels and resorts all over. People basically just don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. I keep thinking that one of these days I will pick up every towel and item saving chairs for non-existent people and dump it all in one big pile. Unfortunately I haven't found many places that will actually police this so it is the more courteous folks that suffer at the hands of the selfish.

I could also see the GN using this as an advantage to sell more Cabana Suites or private chairs. So they may be slow to police it..

marko..
Good point marko
I would be a butthead and remove the item and then move the chair somewhere else so that the person trying to hold the chair has no idea who removed their item.
Chairs are made to sit in, not a place to put personal items. I would remove the item(s) and sit in the chair.
I hate when they leave and don't remove the towel. I think a towel is fair game, I ask around if they think someone is returning. Better yet, I watch seats and remove towels after one hour. I'm the towel police!

Rude on all levels!

If the policy states chairs can't be saved, I wouldn't hesitate to sit wherever I wanted.
