Golden Nugget quarter poker?

When I come to Las Vegas, I always stop at the Eastside Cannery on Boulder Highway to play their quarter poker machines. These are old machines you actually still play physical quarters in and they pay out in quarters into the coin tray. They call them "classic slots." The machines are the old original Fortune One IGT Draw Poker machines.

Another player there told me that they also have these machines at the Golden Nugget on Fremont. I told him I had never seen them there although I hadn't spent a lot of time at the Golden Nugget. He told me that these machines were upstairs. I told him I wasn't aware of any upstairs area in the Golden Nugget on Fremont, but he said it was there.

Does any of this ring a bell with anyone? If they have these old machines at the Golden Nugget, I'd rather go there than drive out to the Eastside Cannery to play them.

Thanks to everyone in advance for your help. I anticipate calling the Golden Nugget in a few weeks to ask them about this.

I agree with you that the Golden Nugget doesn't have any machines at all on the second floor. I'll bet your friend meant that the D Casino is the one with many non-TITO video poker machines on the second floor. Those are the ones marked "coins" here: https://www.vpfree2.com/casino/d-las-vegas-casino

Jaisus! The miracle of the information superhighway!

Thank you LVRoyale for your response. I would go out to Eastside Cannery and play physical quarters forever just to see my right hand turning black with the coin residue. However, the Eastside Cannery was never able to connect their slot club with these old quarter machines. The player there that I talked to told me that the quarter Golden Nugget machines accepted slot club cards for points.

If the D Casino accepts slot club cards for points on these old quarter machines, then I'll play there (just for the quarter stuffing fun).

I should not post this or these old machines that I love will disappear. Then, I'll be sitting at the Sports Bar at the Mirage playing a 6/5 video poker machine in front of a crabby cranky bartender.

Lord. The old days are gone for sure.

The Fremont and the California have quarter coin dropper machines.

Yes, the D accepts slot club cards for points on their coin-drop VP machines. In fact, one of my favorite plays is to use the coupon from the LVA MRB and ACG that lets you earn $5 in free slot play for every 50 points you earn (up to 1000 points) in a 24-hour period and then play on the 10/7 DB quarter machine. It takes several hours of grinding, but you stand a decent chance of not losing your shirt while earning the thousand points, and of course anything you win on the accrued $100 freeplay (which CAN'T be used on coin-drop machines) is a win.

I'd love to play full pay 10/7 DB machines, but it took me long enough to learn 9/6 jacks or better strategy. I just don't have the mental ability to learn two strategies. Of course, I could sit there with a strategy card, but my play would be so slow that it would take forever to earn any freebies.

By the way, thank you LVRoyale for your post. I know it's a lot of work to insert links into message board posts and so your effort to help others out with information is really appreciated. Many message boards won't allow the insertion of links, they don't seem to want to deal with the legal hassles or whatever. Copyright infringement? Like the whole world cares. Sheesh.

Yes, at California on the second floor, they have the ancient $0.25 9/6 Jacks Or Better hand fed coin droppers and that also accepts the Boyd Slot card, so check that out as well!

Also have video poker coin drop at El Cortez. That is the machines I prefer to play.
Don't forget Main Street. They have many quarter coin drop machines. And if you get a 4 of a kind or better you get the scratch cards. We love to play there.

To insert links here, I just copy and paste the URL.

I don't think the LVA minds a link to vpFREE2.com since that's where they get the info for their Best Video Poker page.

I agree that some forums don't like links posted there especially for new members. I think they are afraid of spammers posting links to their sites or blogs. So it's more a matter of spam prevention rather than copyright infringement.
