Golden Nugget Review

Had previously stayed at GN in a Carson Tower Room so this time we upgraded to the Gold Tower Room. Arrived around 3 pm and was surprised there wasn't much of a wait at check in.

Can't remember the room number offhand but I asked for a high floor. Not much of a view but the room was very nice and Very Quiet which can sometimes be better than a good view! As others have said the Gold Tower does have easy in/out access to the Casino and Fremont St.

Still love the pool and slide!! We got lucky and found 2 lounge chairs rather quickly and that were somewhat shaded. It was sometime early afternoon.

$5 blackjack availabilty was sometimes yes and sometimes no. We now prefer to stay downtown mostly instead of the strip and the GN is our absolute favorite. I still can't believe the great prices they offer for such a nice hotel. Wouldn't think of staying anywhere else downtown.
Couldn't agree more! Love the pool and the Central location, although I usually have better luck at games elsewhere. I'll be there next week and can hardly wait! Thanks.
Been very loyal to the Godlen Nugget (6 trips a year) since 1997. Been through the Steve Wynn era---the Tim and Tom Show--and now the Landry's era. There were times during the recent remodel employees were not happy but now that it complete they seem a lot happier. We have always have been treated very well on occassion won some money there. Rooms are very nice no matter where you stay . The better restaurants Grotto's and Vic and Anthony's outstanding. Never have tried Chart house and the Carson Street Cafe' is very good as well. The only major complaint is the buffet. They moved it upstairs and the food went downhill fast. Breakfast is ok---lunch fair and dinner forget. They actually need to take whoever is incharge of buffet and have them sample competition flavors. It is not super bad but for all the other improvements and landry's being restaurant people it not close to acceptable. The biggest thing they have going for themselves is the coupon in the Book of Values (BOGOF) you get a check-in. Hard to say how many would pay full fare after the first time.

your right buffet on the main floor was WAY better!

It isn't super bad - just lousy value compared to their main competitors.
We are also LONG time GN patrons. Wynn... Tim and Tom... Landry's..... I like the Rush tower rooms! The bed is to die for! Food SUCKS!!!!

We had dinner at the Chart House last week and I was in tears! The room is so LOUD!!!! It's awful!!

Got my dinner. Waitress whizzed by and asked how everything was. I told her my dinner was NOT good. She smiled and moved on. I think she probably didn't hear me because it was so noisy.

I remember that when she was telling us about the specials, my husband kept asking me "What did she say?"

Bottom line... when she presented us with the check I asked her why she just walked away when I told her my dinner was not OK. She didn't reply.

Golly..... If a room is THAT loud there is something wrong. (Plus the food was BAD!)

Wow, my wife and I have always had good food at CH. She usually gets the lobster tail. The last two times I had the grilled swordfish and the scallops. Both were excellent.
