The Grand not so Grand!

My first vist too the Grand was not so Grand! I had planned to spend some time here. I wanted to get a players card, gamble and eat!

Well, first I went too the players club and they did not know what the promotion was for new sign ups. She had to ask someone else. . . . . . then I find out you get a T-Shirt! and after you earn 500 points you get $5 free slot play! (I did not think this was worth my time so, we did not get a card!

So, then I had seen the NFR special something like $9.99 steak special, so we go to the resturant! Well, that is not the special today! The special was Chili Beans. WHAT! I eat Chili Beans at home, not in Vegas! and not for $9.99!

Then we played a little and did not win anything, so we decided to leave. This is what really got me! I used valet and when I went to get the car I was told my ticket needed to me validated. Ok, so I go to the cashiers . . . . . and they ask me for my players card. I told them we did not get one because we did not want a tshirt. So, they asked, who did you talk too? what did they look like? Because you do get free play? they told me? Then they started making phone calls? Ok, this is studpid (I'm use to free valet downtown) then it gets even worse. They go too the back room to call upstairs! I said we can just pay for the valet . . . . How much is it! $12. I can't imanage a casino downtown charging this. What bothers more than anything is the point, that you do not treat your customers this way! I felt like I was trying too get a $10,000 loan? not valet park? I did state that the sign in the front states "Free Valet". I can't believe that they went too the back room to call upstairs! REALLY!. I did make a joke on false advertisment. Anyway, what A waste of my Las Vegas Time! They did come back and state that they would validate my ticket!

So, next time I am downtown I will go too a casino that treats me better!

We drove to the El Cortez where, Valet is FREE! (I always tip), I have Free Play! Can get prime rib for $9.99. And they were passing out free white castle hamburgers!

So, if you go the Grand make sure your valet ticket is validated!

Wow - they've been around long enough, should have their shit together by now. I'm like you - hate wasting a precious moment of Vegas time. Just a friendly suggestion: Make a hard copy of your post and mail it to management. Maybe, just maybe they'll make it right for you, and hopefully others in the future. Have a great holiday season!
Thanks for the tip.

I just wanted others to be aware if they Valet it!

I hope all are having a wonderful Holiday Season!

Sorry for your bad experience. I would recommend you always get the players card...especially at the Grand because your points earn you free entries into their daily slot tournament which can be played on a myriad of machines. But they still should have treated you better. And I agree their Stewart & Ogden diner is an overpriced POS.

Having said that I've been treated very well by the staff at the Grand. They let me check out late (passed the normal late checkout time) after my flight got delayed.....and on another occasion I left my IPad in the room after checking out only to have the front desk promptly call me on the way to the airport so I could go back and pick it up. I gave them a glowing review on YELP after that one.

With better VP, 10X odds craps, and a matchplay coupon in the newest ACG I think I will continue to frequent the Downtown Grand. I really don't want to see that building become vacant again.

Hate that you had a bad time at the Grand. I checked it out for the first time late this summer and had a great experience. Granted, I was walking and didn't have to deal with parking, but the lady at the Players Club was friendly and gave us some match play & drink coupons for signing up. The Food/Bev manager even gave us a tour of the place.
I will say for 10 am on a Saturday, the place was dead. I think we were 2 of maybe 10 people playing.

marko..
We recently visited Downtown and accepted The Grand's three night midweek offer with $20 free play. We were give a room across the street from the casino. The room was on the 16th floor and had eastern exposure. We had to tolerate the Fremont music noise until about 11:30 every night. We tried the café for one breakfast. It wasn't busy, but the food arrived only luke warm. After the first night we drove out to Red Rock for the day. We left a note for the housekeeper that one of the bathroom bulbs was out. When we returned there were towels, tools, and glass everywhere in the bathroom as the bathroom fixture had been broken. There was still some broken glass on the floor and mixed in with our toiletries. It looked like someone had started a cleanup but did not finish. We called the front desk and they sent up a housekeeper to clean up. She apologized and started the cleanup. Later when we came back she had left extra soaps, 6 towels and 3 extra bath mats (not sure why). Were we supposed to take them home?

The valet was fine and efficient. They gave a reusable validation coupon when we checked in. The Video Poker options were minimal. They had a DDB progressive which seemed to be the only option. I could not find any 8/5 Bonus Poker. I went to the furnace bar one night to play and waited over 10 minutes to get served a drink as the bartender was moving cases of water from the back room.

I played some craps a couple of times and lost. I did like the music and noise level at The Grand. It was tolerable. Since it was rodeo week we were hit by the country music at other places.

We will not come back based on this experience. There just isn't anything unique or feel good about this place.

When we checked out we waited behind someone who was checking in. He specifically requested a room in the main building facing away from Fremont Street. This would be good advice for anyone staying here.

I was there recently and found several banks with 25c, 50c, and $1 8/5 BP. These machines also had 5c and 10c games with worse paytables, so we must select 25c, 50c or $1 on the main menu to see the 8/5 game.

I was had RFB at the Lady Luck.I was waiting to be invited to the Grand.I finally got an offer and booked a room.
My friend who was to join me had a medical emergency.I had to cancel the stay.I was going to reschedule
and one of the rudest reps I have ever spoken with informed me (after I canceled by the way) that It was a one time offer and
I couldn't re book it for any reason.Never had that happen.
I have already posted on FSE noise stopping me from trying to stay the night. The increase in promo activity since opening means more traffic & congestion where boxes of shirts were uncrated/folded while new boothlings were matching freeplays near the pit. I haven't yet dined there. I, too, had to cxl a stay recently on no notice; there was a promo, which I voided, but it wasn't discussed. At least my phone dude was sympatico. Good luck!
I stayed there 3 times with different minor problems on each trip but generally I thought it is OK. Example - only one set of earplugs for noise but 2 people check in, room was supposed to have water and did not and I needed ID to enter pool area (it was locked in my room) since there was an "event there" where gambling and alcohol was served.

I made the argument I can walk into a casino without ID and no one will know it (bad idea but no one checks), but since they were catering to the young crowd they dumbed it down for everybody.

Also I find it is difficult to get into and out of the pool, but at least they have a pool downtown.

Overall I rate it a 7.

S & O was OK on the 241 night but would suck full price. I thought their fancy burger was very good.
