has anyone received an upfront room comp from the el cortez recently?

my latest offers are all the "casino rate, but play this amount and it will be comped" type. i thought it was because i stiffed them big time (not on purpose, but they had the misfortune of being my last hotel on a HORRIBLE losing trip and i just couldnt afford to play normally)

i see on various boards that a lot of people are getting the casino rate + play this amount offers. but has anyone gotten an upfront comp?

I'm still getting the offers I had been getting - 3 nights, plus some food and slot play and 5x points one day. I play enough that my comp dollars will cover what food isn't covered up front. Maybe every once in a great while, I'll have to pay for a meal with points, but that's pretty rare.

As I recall, your offer had a nice bonus about several hundred in slot play for 20K coin-in. Mine didn't have that little perk. I usually will do half of my play on my 5X points day, then 25% on each of the other 2 days. Working it that way, combined with the upfront comps, makes even 8/5 bonus poker a decent play.

And if you are returning to the airport from the EC and it's on a weekday, that free "shuttle" back to the airport is a nice little bonus. No white Econo-box van - this was a beautiful black Town Car with an extremely friendly driver.

this is exactly why i have always booked my elco stays at the end of my trip! its a great perk and there is no resort fee to cover it.

Yes, I had a fabulous offer of $400 in FSP if I got I believe 20000 points in 72 hours. Unfortunately, that offer was only good through the end of June. I asked whether it could be extended through August and the answer I got was "no" as that kind of offer is typically offered only during slower periods, which El Co views as June and December.

But, I'm still happy with my 5x/$75 FSP and $75 F&B offer and I forgot about the ride back to the airport. That's sweet though I was planning to spend my last night on the strip. I too am planning a really heavy play day on the 5x points day. Remember too that El Cortez has coupons for 2x points on a Tuesday OR a Thursday. If you get a hold of a coupon, make sure 5x day is NOT a Tuesday or Thursday when you could use the 2x coupon.

Coming up on our first El Cortez stay, two nights on our upcoming trip (July 30-Aug 1). We also got that offer (cheap room, comped for $2K/d weekdays, $3K/d weekends; 5x points one day; $15 food; free miniature Jim Beam), $2K/d will be easy.

Hey Jon, I am not very good at keeping track of my play but I don't think it takes a lot to get comped rooms. I played there very heavily one day in December. My guess is it was about 10k coin in with a mixture of slots and VP but I have been getting the same 3 nights /75 FSP and 75 food + 5x multiplier for at least a year and the first time it was definitely less than 10k coin in. I used an offer in April and didn't play much as it was the end of a bad trip but I still got the same offer for this summer. I think your offer probably gives a good sense of what is normally required for a comped room. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

I just wanted to let you know that I finally just this past week got my first El Cortez Newsletter for August-September 2012 and I now see this 2X point coupons for Tuesdays or Thursdays.

And so maybe at some point I'll set things up to where I can use one coupon one day and the other coupon the next day.

As far as I know, you can go to the Slot Club booth right before it closes at Midnight and have the coupon set to start accruing the multiple points beginning with after Midnight.

Glad you found the coupons Rec and great info re activating the coupon in advance. That's particularly good for those of us who play late at night or early in the morning when the slot club is not open. It's important becaude at El Co the multiplier doesn't kick in until after you have activated it. By contrast, at Stations casinos you can play all day and activate the multiplier at the end of the day and the entire day's play will be multiplied.
