has anyone received an upfront room comp from the el cortez recently?

Yes, this is very useful info for me, Rec, since I'm an early riser (my current job has given me milkman's hours, so sleeping late in Vegas usually means 6am).

Thanks for your reply, FFlowers. I'm usually good for about $3K/d, but will also play a lot of blackjack at the El, so we'll see what happens.
Well very good! I'm happy that I could help both of you!

I would think that it goes as well for the 2X points coupon, but I don't know since I only last week just received the August-September issue of El Cortez's newsletter.

But I can say that I have done this more than once with the 5X points offer. I just showed up at about 11:50PM or so and told the boothling that I wanted the 5X points to start at 12 Midnight and they've (at least in the past) said okay!

So enjoy and go get 'em!

As far as I know, you can go to the Slot Club booth right before it closes at Midnight and have the coupon set to start accruing the multiple points beginning with after Midnight.

they will activate it at any time for you. on my last stay - i went up to use my lva $10 free play and i was asked about the 5x. i told him i didnt want to use it until two days later and he set it up for me right there and then to be active two days later. very very easy.

Well that's good to know and now I guess then that the question should be if you can set up before hand the use of the 2X coupon and then the 5X coupon (or Vice-Versa) for one day after the other.

I would think that that very possibly is allowed.

Maybe if you use the 5x and then the 2x, you'll get 25x. It works exponentially, right?

Well that would certainly be nice, but that does bring up something that I wanted to make sure that people know and understand. That is that Point Multipliers are not to be factored into your getting Room Comps.

And so since during weekdays it takes 2,000 points per day to get them comped (with a maximum of 3 days), it has to be 2,000 original points -- not either 400 Points with a 5 Times Point Multiplier or 1,000 points with a 2 Times Points multiplier.

Oh and I want to remind all El Cortez players to use their Comp Dollars for stuff first and to save the Slot Club points (if at all possible) for Cashback!

That's a good point, thanks, Rec. I don't know if I would have thought of that, I'm used to single-account systems at Boyd, Plaza and Four Queens.
But Jon, Plaza and Las Vegas Club both do have separate accounts for Cashback and Comps and in these casinos, Comps go away after 48 hours of no action and so they are wiped out at the end of each trip unless they are used.

But you do have to ask the boothlings at Plaza/Las Vegas Club about your comps for the trip because otherwise the boothlings may or may not mention them to you.

And at Four Queens, there is also a separate comp account which is where (at least from what I'm understanding) the Room and Food Comps offers come from.

Although El Cortez is the only one that lists your comp Dollars once your card has been accepted into the Slot Club Card reader. At the other places, you have to ask about Comp Dollars, but Comp Dollars are actually there.

That's a good point, Rec; I kind of remember that about the Plaza, but probably forget lots of times. Not sure how it works at Four Queens, I've generally just talked to a host. Maybe I'll hit the booth first this coming trip. Thanks!
