Help with Downtown Hotels.

Hi, Dick, good to hear from you again!

We've been long-time MSS fans, the rooms are nice, kept up well. Small, low-key, very friendly casino, good VP, and the Score with Four scratch-offs add some value. Restaurant options are limited, more options over at the Cal. Never stayed at the Cal, it's about 80-90% Hawaiian clientele and that's reflected in the casino and the restaurants, kind of nice. I understand that the rooms are comparable to MSS, maybe smaller; it's also further from the railroad tracks, if train noise would bother you.
Thanks for the info on the Cal! I think ill keep the room and unless my girl balks then the Cal it is! I do agree that the food options are better at the Cal (which is a point that sometimes escapes me)
Champ,

Ask to stay in the west tower with an east facing room at the Cal. The west tower is nicer and if you face east, it is quieter.
Thanks! I'm gonna call today and put in that request ! The worst they can say is "no" or " your room won't be assigned until you check in"!!

No comments on the Cal??? I'm stuck between staying there or MSS in August (I'm entered in a 5k slot tourney at the Cal)

Hey Champ,

Although I haven't stayed at either MSS or Cal (so I can't actually directly comment on that), are you okay with having Shutters in your room instead of Curtains?

I ask this because I prefer as much darkness as possible when I sleep.

I stayed once at Fremont where they had Shutters and I said "Never Again" (because too much light came in) and so when I found out that both MSS and Cal use Shutters, I then said that this is no good for me!

Coach..doesn't matter to me. When I hit the room its for 1 of 4 "S"'s. Sleep, Shower, Shave or S--- (fill in any 3 letters... or 2 if I get lucky).

I cant remember anything ever keeping me awake at night at any hotel (other than a couple fighting in the room next door at the Paris 3 years ago). When Im ready to crash...I'm crashing..shutters...trains ..whatever!

Ok, Champ, but for me, too much light will wake me up and when I'm down, I want to stay down for a good, long time!

The "D" has been recently renovated. Basic rooms are still very....basic...but refreshed. Check out their suites. Really nice looking. And now they actually have some decent restaurants to spend your comps at.
