I think I'm done with the D

We stayed 15-20 times at Fitz and were satisfied. We don't want spectacular: we want clean, safe and reasonable. Fitz had that and some decent gaming as well. Also a very nice atmosphere.

The changes made at the D range from:
-The Very Good/Good The upgrade in the rooms, the hallways, and the physical appearance of the casino; adding the Coney Island dogs

- The OK- some of the gaming changes are improvements, some not-so-much and The Grill has been improved. Scintas (if they are as good as they were years ago) is a good show.

The Poor- taking away the bench at the valet pick up is classless, the new steakhouse is way overpriced.

-The Horrid- the music is several orders of magnitude too loud. I was standing inches from the craps dealer and was having to scream my bets into his ear. The dealer who was at the far end of the roll was being told the numbers by hand signals. Several employees told me there have been many complaints (quoting: "dozens", "a lot" and "many") all indicated to one degree or another that management is aware and basically said they don't care. I'm a bit amused as I am in the insurance industry and would tell them flat out that they are walking into a lot of worker's compensation claims. I took almost all of my gaming elsewhere.

MOST HORRID- a $20 resort fee - really?! You think you qualify as a "resort"? You think you offer anything that justifies that fee? I booked early for this last stay so I didn't have to pay it. I never will as I'm done. I know I may still pay more at another place, but as long as the charges are justified, no problem.

Music way off base---I like music but not to be played at even near the level that this music is played----the Long Bar is a waste from what I seen....nice TV's, nice bar, but would better serve as a sportsbook enclosed.......high roller spot another waste of space nothing private about that area.....older type coin paying machines in upper lever another waste IMOO.......leaves a lot to be desired.......
Agree.

We are lucky to be offered comped rooms, etc even though we are lowly minimum bet penny slot and keno players so have not encountered the dreaded "resort" fee but we are taking more and more of our gambling elsewhere. I only play in the early am when music levels are not quite so loud or upstairs where there is a whole different selection of music being played. We used to play some of the table games but have not done so since music levels increased. I think I may take ear plugs/ear protectors to wear !! Too bad as when it was still Fitzgerald's we gave them almost all our gambling business

I wonder if they get away with being called a "Resort" because they have a Swimming Pool?

"I wonder if they get away with being called a "Resort" because they have a Swimming Pool?"

Then so is every Quality Inn in Podunk, USA.

I completely agree with you, but maybe this is why they can do it and maybe why Plaza is doing the same (although they also have a Gym).

we just got back 10.21.13 from a week at THE D, we were not impressed at all...music is not only too loud but not good music, drafts at the long bar are $5 compared to $2 at MSS for microbrews, the parking garage is a night mare, the bathrooms were not that clean (tiles are old) - we will not stay there again. PLUS THAT STUPID RESORT FEE, spare me. We booked our trip, paid for it, and when we checked in they charged us for that resort fee. Swimming Pool? Spare me. In the middle of their parking lot? nice, real classy. Not. Hello Downtown Grand-here we come.
We were looking forward to checking it out while there this past summer. Walked in, couldn't hear ourselves think, and walked out. Like others have said, we enjoyed playing there when it was the Fitz; good table mins, nice dealers, and good slots. Now it's just another wannabe hipster place.

Here's a clue, owners and mgmt; I saw no hiptsters there..

I tend to stay upstairs where the music is much softer. They have some great progressive VP at the bar....8/5 Bonus Boker + Progessive. Thats about as good as it gets downtown.

But, yeah, the rave party downstairs sucks. I dont mind it at night so much, but do we really need it at 10:00AM ? They need to take a page out of the Palms playbook: Keep it mellow in the day; pump up the volume at night.
