If you stray away from the FSE, where to?

Jerry's Nugget was mentioned earlier, I think that's your destination. Close to downtown, ACG coupons, decent low level gambling, cheap drinks, and a great coffee shop. And if you're there late on Saturday they have a pretty lively latin entertainment scene.

$8-9 will get you a taxi ride from Fremont.
Rent a car and venture to all the Casinos...
You might find the Hard Rock, and the Hofbrauhaus, caddy-corner, interesting. The Hard Rock has run a shuttle in the past, but you'd need to contact them.

The Hard Rock is fairly sedate during the daytime. I'm not sure about the VP pay tables, but there are two very good coupies in the ACG. Great rock n' roll music and memorabilia.

You could also look into the events at the convention center and the Sands expo center. Sometimes good stuff shows up there.

I rent a car for sightseeing but don't use it to Casino Hop as I like to drink when I visit casinos

Every year I tease the thought of renting a car, but I too, like having a few adult beverages while playing..

Think I may check out Jerrys Nugget.. Not sure about the Latin party thou..

Thanks for the heads up!

Palace Station. It's a short bus ride away and all you will find $5.00 table games around the clock!

I also agree with tonyrob that the Main Street Station should fit the bill too!
Main Street Station, a casino in downtown Las Vegas, really isn't an option for a person looking for wants to "spend a few hours away from downtown & check out other casinos".
