Inexpensive Transit from Airport to Downtown

I make frequent short solo trips to Vegas. Sometimes I take the express bus from the airport. But sometimes I find rental car rates so low I can't resist.

Last night I found a $22 all-in rate for a one day compact from Budget in November. Pick it up at the airport, drop it the next day at the Golden Nugget. Even with $5 of gas, this is cheaper than a taxi, and will give me the opportunity to hit a good grocery (Whole Foods!) and some outlying points before turning in the car.

Hertz, Avis, and Budget all have locations downtown. Next time you need a lift there from the airport, check around for a one day rental car, you may be surprised how affordable it is.

Thanks for the heads up. I usually do a shuttle bus when I'm by myself, but will split a cab when with friends. Where do you go to find the cheap rental rates?

This particular rate I found via costcotravel.com, but similar rates were available elsewhere.
