Internet Sweepstakes Outlets..

(I also posted on the East of the Mississippi thread, but wanted to throw it out to my Downtown folks to see if any of yall have heard of it)

I was in Florida this weekend and they have gaming establishments called "Internet Sweepstakes." I didnt have time to go in, but read up and apparently its a legal venue where you pay to "rent" time online and play a slots type game during your session.

Im still not 100% sure how it works, but from what I understand, they focus on the Florida retirement crowd. They dont offer cocktails, but serve free soda, coffee and some serve free food.

Im both confused and intrigued...

They have one in my neighborhood here on Long Island. You rent time on the machines and play contest that reward you with extra time. When you are done, they buy back your excess time from you.
The one near me offers free refreshments and gave away one hour free to new clients.
Here is what I saw- Video poker JOB paid 6,5. Video BJ paid even money on BJ, but a five card 21 was an automatic winner. The other slot games were similar to the reel games in casinos. I asked about payoffs and got a mumbo jumbo reply.
It doesn't look like it is catching on.

Thats interesting. So, you "win" more time and they buy it back from you. Huh.
Just north of Jacksonville, we passed about 5 Internet Sweepstakes stores. But then again, we were close to a retirement community too.

Thanks for the info..

They have a LOT of these in Ohio,

One important point is they are not slot machines ( thats how they get around the law), they run the same way as a Video Lottery Terminal VLT. So when you buy in for say $20.00, boom, they know right then if your "lottery" ticket paid and how much. Now slot and video poker games you play are just a graphical representation of that payoff or loss when you bought in. So say you won $40 on that buy in, it might be represented by say 10 wins of 50 cents, one $10 dollar win, 20 wins of $1 and one $5 dollar win.
The whole time theres a lot lot of losers mixed in, this way they get you to keep playing and eventually losing it all.

Confusing, but made to look like your gambling against a RNG in your machine , your not.

Just my opinion but I think they are a bad bet.

Well if what they have is 6/5 Jacks Or Better Video Poker and Blackjack paying Even Money (1 To 1) but being an automatic win for a 5-card 21, there's no doubt about it that it's a bad bet!

They are bad bets when compared to games in a real casino, but I think the proper comparision would be to the state lottery. Id like to see how they compare as far as payouts go.
