Internet Sweepstakes - Shady but Legit..

Last weekend in Florida I finally had the chance to check out an "Internet Sweepstakes" outlet. These "casinos" are small, usually located in a strip mall and... shady.

The windows were blacked out and to get in we had to knock loudly or call the number. Inside there were about 40 sit down "slot machines" (comparable to the kind you see at a gas station). The little girl behind the counter explained that you pay her, she fills the machine and you play like normal. That's it.

The games reminded me of the "My Vegas" app or a computer game. My brother wanted to cash out after he won $20, which he did but she kept pushing him to reload another machine. I never won, not even 1 spin.

What was most surprising was how dark and creepy this place was. The lights were low, old TV's on ESPN and the "machines" were old and faded.

We did however get a free bottle of water and an oatmeal cream pie! Score!!

Florida Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll resigned last year in the midst of a racketeering investigation involving a chain of these types of gambling salons.

One has to really need to gamble to submit onesself to those places.

We noticed a few other locations had closed down. If we didn't get the feeling of something bad could happen here at any moment, they could be an ok waste of time and $$ if you need a quick "casino" fix. However, this specific location was just, odd.
