Its not Vegas.. or Biloxi, or AC, or Tunica...But it will do..

So this is something for the East of the Mississippi Thread, but since I spent 99% of my time talking to you, the downtown fans, I thought I would share my experience at the Wind Creek Casino in Atmore, Alabama.

Normally, I take a solo trip downtown every summer, but we had our first child in April and she is not a video poker fan so, I had to put my trip on hold. So, I replaced the FSE with an overnight road trip to Atmore Alabama at the Wind Creek Casino.

Its located about 4.5 hours from Atlanta in the middle of nowehere Alabama and run by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.

The hotel is beautiful. They have spent a ton of money making this place into a luxury resort. They have a few nice restaurants, a club, spa and infinity pool. They are about to open a movie theatre, bowling alley and another large sports bar in the next few months. It reminded me of a smaller Golden Nugget. Rooms were going for upwards of $150 a night and were sold out, but there are a few hotels at the exit.

The casino is big, bright, loud and... slots only. Actually, you are not even playing slots, you are playing bingo. The machines look just like a normal slot machine, but with a tiny bingo card in the corner. As soon as you hit "bet max" or "spin" they play a round of bingo and your win is decided on if you hit bingo. So, the reels are pretty much worthless. It was very interesting.

I found the penny slots paid out better than the $1 machines. I hit a $300 and $600 jackpot on some random penny games. The more popular games like WOF and The Hangover were crowded and the tightest on the floor. I played WOF for about 20 mins and not once did I hit "spin." I think I dropped $100 on the Hangover machine and never hit a win of more than a few bucks.

They do serve cocktails, but service is slow and the drinks are really weak unless you are sitting at the bar and tip them before asking for a "double" pour. The staff were very nice and they did a great job keeping the place clean.

Its no vegas.. or anything close, but good if you need a quick slots fix. Funny enought, I got my first mailer within 3 days of getting home. Offers included a free nights stay and $150 in free play.

I miss downtown.

Marko..
Thanks for the scoop on Alabama. We are going to Biloxi in October and we were considering checking out the Atmore casino on the way back to Indy. I had no idea that they had class II machines. We will pass.
Thanks for the report!

Class II Slots are not the best so I'm happy that you got some nice hits.

If you are looking for a place to stretch your legs, take a bathroom break and grab a bite on the way to Biloxi, stop by. Its literally right off the exit and the town is tiny so you wont fight traffic on and off the highway.
Just don't plan on winning real big.. but its a good pit stop if you need it..
