Just Let Me Vent...

This really has nothing to do with downtown, but I gotta vent (yeah yeah I know, I should get a diary, but this is more fun and maybe someone can sympathize)

I work for a radio station in Atlanta and Showtime is sending my show to Vegas for the Floyd Mayweather fight this weekend.. Wait, almost everyone in my show. I'm not going.

(Mainly because I also work for the Atlanta Braves and we have a homestand this weekend)

But still, do you know how frustrating it is hearing your co-workers talk about their Vegas plans and you cant be there, on someone elses dime nonetheless?

Even worse, I would ask them "So, how stoked are you for this weekend?" and the common response, "Eh.. Ive done this a lot so, whatever"

WHATEVER?!?!?! By God this is Vegas man!!!

I think Im going to have to play some serious Ga. Lottery Keno at the local pub this weekend...

Im going through some major FSE withdrawl..

Marko..
I understand and sympathize, but you live in or near my 2nd favorite city only 2nd to Austin, Tx. Be patient you will go to my 3rd favorite city soon and write a fantastic trip report.
Marko: bad luck, man. Feel for ya!
OTOH, at least the Braves are going to the playoffs, so it's not like they're playing out the string.

Wow, Marko! My heart definitely goes out to you for missing out on an "on someone else's Dime" trip to LV of all places!

Do any of your co-workers have any interest/desire in playing with a better shot at winning then many other players (especially with smart Video Poker and Blackjack play)?

Bobby W. White your THIRD favorite city is Vegas? I can understand loving Austin at the level of Vegas but you love Atlanta more than Vegas? You are kidding and just trying to make marko62 feel better right?

On a similar note...........I was getting my new smart phone at the Verizon store last Saturday. While the salesman was down loading all of my old information off my old phone to put into my new phone we started chit chatting and he broached my favorite subject.......... LAS VEGAS!
He explains that he is 24 and his dad is buying them both airline tickets to celebrate his upcoming 25th B-day (cool) then he started talking about golfing in Las Vegas (cool), since I am not a golfer I had no real input to offer on the subject so I segway'd into talking about gambling in Las Vegas when all of a sudden, this young man says the unthinkable......I don't gamble! he goes on to say "I cannot put my hard earned money down on a table just to lose it"
WTF! Your gonna fly 5 1/2 hours ($325) and pay $75 to $100 to beat a freaking ball around Las Vegas with a set of extremely over priced sticks ($500+)?.......and you think "I" am silly for gamboling?

I hear people say this silliness all the time. I ask, "Where are you going for vacation?" Oh, Disney World? Only $4000 for the trip for a week? What are the odds that you'll bring all of that plus more home? No chance? How about a bad trip, where you only bring $2000 back? No chance? Ok, lets say its your worst trip ever, you only bring $500 home? No? Plan to spend it all it all? Oh...no thanks...I can't spend my hard earned money that way."
I suspect all of us have to rationalize our choice of LV as our vacation spot all the time. I even tell people that this year has been a "bad" year in terms of how much I have lost gambling, but that my daily average of that loss is less than $50 per day. For that $50 loss, I don't pay for rooms, I pay for very few drinks and even fewer meals, and I could pay for no meals or drinks if I chose not to. I then ask them if they know of any places I can go on vacation and actually have fun for $50 per night. They still think I'm wasting my money.

OK, I'll keep "wasting" $50 per day on my LV trips and they can keep "spending" 10 times that per day, if they're lucky, on their vacations.
