I like 4 Queens the newer rooms have fridges, Magnolias and the chicago brewery have good food at reasonable prices. I alslo enjoy Califnornia bigger rooms and only 1 block off of fremont so a bit quiter. I can't stand the Plaza the smell is overwhelming.
My favourite is the Plaza and I don't find any objectionable
smell there currently. I stay there every year.
I love how you are connected to Fremont but
it is much quieter than the other hotels if you
ask to have a room facing the mountains.
The rooms are very spacious and many of them have been
recently remodeled. The WIFI is free and strong.
The pool area is comfortable.
There are lots of reasonably priced food options.
I always enjoy their casino too.
They have a good mix of old and new machines.
Plaza will probably give you a more pleasant nights sleep - 4Queens will pick up alot of noice from Fremont.
I like to stay at the extreme ends of downtown for this reason. El Co, Plaza, MSS, California are my preferred places.
My "go to" place is 4Q. Been there 4 times in the last 4 years. Rooms are comparable to what I had last time I stayed at Harrah's about 5 years ago,. Basic, clean, but no resort fees. If you are in their "Club 55" (over 55 years old) you get a 20% discount on rooms and meals at Magnolia, their coffee shop.
To avoid Freemont noise, I always specify "South Tower Deluxe, 8th floor or higher, away from Freemont St." With limited bookings that shouldn't be a problem to get, particularly if you are going during the week.
They also have some good discounts in their "Fun Book". You get it when you check in, usually has comp meal at Magnolia, discount or free drink at the Chicago Brewing, a Binion's discount or two, etc. Chicago Brewing has great thin crust pizza/
I couldn't agree more with the basic "stay as far away as possible from the Fremont Street Experience" strategy. The rooms at the 4Q and other hotels that face the FSE might as well be on a factory floor for all the sleep you're going to get.
Thank you all for the suggestion and information really aprreciate it.
ive stayed at the DG nice rooms but not a fan of the casino though espescially bj tables

Ask for Quiet rooms at 4queens and they have done that for me. South tower in hall behind elevators as you face hall. Fremont more difficult. They have very quiet rooms if you take left and go long way and take another left that has the step up. They are very quiet. I believe they do face mounts. You do not want on same street as Main Street station

Fremont will try to just put you down hall from Fremont exp. still very noisy. Cabs and people blowing horns. Doors at both very noisy when closed. Background noise helps. Ask for fan or take white noise device with you.
I also like the El Cortez.Still downtown but away from the noise and the madness. Also easy in and out of the parking structure if you have a car.
