Mobbed at the Mob Museum

The Mob Museum opened on Valentine's Day to much publicity. We took our out-of-town guests to take a look yesterday (Saturday), the only day we could make it. Judging by the crowds and their reactions as well as ours it's a hit!

We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Very well done and a super addition to downtown. As a local we bought the tickets for all 4 of us ($10 for locals). We plan to go back in a couple of weeks as it was so crowded we missed a few things.

Thanks for that review. It's going on my list of things to do in May.

How many blocks is it from Fremont street?
We will be there this week!

This is an interesting museum. There's no arguing that organized crime was a factor in Las Vegas' growth. I just hope the museum owners don't glorify the mob, a mistake that was made at the Tropicana. The story's worth telling, if told well.
It is 2 blocks over from Fremont and 2 blocks down from Main Street. If you walk out the front door of Main Street Station Stewart Ave. is directly in front of you and the museum can be seen on the left. Not the best section of town though they've prettied it up a bit so use caution especially after dark.

The mob was presented in a historical factual way. I didn't care for a few of the interactive displays.
is there parking available at the mob museum? if not, what's the best alternative? their web site doesn't mention this.
we haven't been downtown in ages, but plan to visit the museum in late march.
There is a very small lot with a $3 parking charge. We parked at MSS and walked over.
My sister and I went yesterday. We, too, parked at MSS and walked the 3 blocks down Stewart. I could not believe how crowded the museum was -- looks like it's a success! We both thought it was very interesting, and very well done. We were in there for over 2 hours. Exhibits are on 3 different floors, and you start with the earliest history and move forward towards the present. There are several places where you can sit down and watch a short video.

I was surprised at how large a staff they have. One man was even outside on the front steps, greeting people and directing them to the ticket windows. He asked if we were locals -- I said I was, but not my sister. He told me to buy both tickets and we'd both get the $10 locals price.

As with all museums, you exit through the gift shop, lol.
I'm not at all surprised that it's well done. The same folks who did that put together the Spy Museum here in DC and it's been one of the most fun tours I've taken.

Can't wait to get out there in August to see it for myself.
